View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: The objective of this work is to estimate the patient positioning accuracy of a surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) system using an optical surface scanner compared to an X‑ray-based imaging system (IGRT) with respect to their impact on intracranial stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) and intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).
Methods: Patient positioning data, both acquired with SGRT and IGRT systems at the same linacs, serve as a basis for determination of positioning accuracy. A total of 35 patients with two different open face masks (578 datasets) were positioned using X‑ray stereoscopic imaging and the patient position inside the open face mask was recorded using SGRT.
To date, oxaliplatin and irinotecan are used in combination with 5-flourouracil (5-FU) for metastatic colorectal cancer. In this study it was tested whether oxaliplatin and irinotecan and their combinations with 5-FU have an enhanced effect when treated simultaneously with ionizing radiation. In addition, it should be compared whether one combination therapy is more effective than the other.

Materials And Methods: To longitudinally evaluate changes in PCa treatment strategies in urological and radiotherapy departments in Germany, a link to a survey was sent to 134 institutions covering two representative baseline weeks prior to the pandemic and 13 weeks from March 2020 to February 2021.
Purpose: The first aim of the trial is to study feasibility of combined programmed death protein ligand 1/cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 inhibition concomitant to radiotherapy. In addition, efficacy of the entire treatment scheme consisting of induction chemoimmunotherapy followed by chemotherapy-free radioimmunotherapy (RIT) after intratumoral CD8 +immune cell-based patient selection will be analyzed.
Methods: Patients with stage III-IVB head and neck squamous cell carcinoma were eligible for this multicenter phase II trial.
Importance: Total neoadjuvant therapy has been increasingly adopted for multimodal rectal cancer treatment. The optimal sequence of chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and chemotherapy needs to be established.
Objective: To report the long-term results of the secondary end points prespecified in the Randomized Phase 2 Trial of Chemoradiotherapy Plus Induction or Consolidation Chemotherapy as Total Neoadjuvant Therapy (CAO/ARO/AIO-12 trial) for Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer.
Purpose: Total skin electron beam therapy (TSEBT) is still a technical and therapeutic challenge today. Thus, we developed TSEBT using a sweeping-beam technique.
Methods: For treatment delivery, a linear accelerator Versa HD (ELEKTA, Stockholm, Sweden) with high-dose-rate electrons (HDRE) was used with a dose rate of 9000 MU/min.
Objective: With the increasing complexity of oncological therapy, the number of inpatient admissions to radiotherapy and non-radiotherapy departments might have changed. In this study, we aim to quantify the number of inpatient cases and the number of radiotherapy fractions delivered under inpatient conditions in radiotherapy and non-radiotherapy departments.
Methods: The analysis is founded on data of all hospitalized cases in Germany based on Diagnosis-Related Group Statistics (G-DRG Statistics, delivered by the Research Data Centers of the Federal Statistical Office).
To determine whether a single dose of double immune checkpoint blockade (induction chemoimmunotherapy (ICIT)) adds benefit to induction single-cycle platinum doublet (induction chemotherapy (IC)) in locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), patients treated with cisplatin 30 mg/m d1-3 and docetaxel 75 mg/m d1 combined with durvalumab 1500 mg fixed dose d5 and tremelimumab 75 mg fixed dose d5 (ICIT) within the CheckRad-CD8 trial were compared with a retrospective cohort receiving the same chemotherapy (IC) without immunotherapy. The endpoint of this analysis was the complete response rate (CR). A total of 53 patients were treated with ICIT and 104 patients with IC only.

Background: To determine safety and efficacy of single cycle induction treatment with cisplatin/docetaxel and durvalumab/tremelimumab in stage III-IVB head and neck cancer.
Methods: Patients received a single cycle of cisplatin 30 mg/m² on days 1-3 and docetaxel 75 mg/m² on day 1 combined with durvalumab 1500 mg fix dose on day 5 and tremelimumab 75 mg fix dose on day 5. Patients with pathologic complete response (pCR) in the rebiopsy after induction treatment or at least 20% increase of intratumoral CD8+ cell density in the rebiopsy compared with baseline entered radioimmunotherapy with concomitant durvalumab/tremelimumab.
Purpose: Total neoadjuvant therapy is a new paradigm for rectal cancer treatment. Optimal scheduling of preoperative chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and chemotherapy remains to be established.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a multicenter, randomized, phase II trial using a pick-the-winner design on the basis of the hypothesis of an increased pathologic complete response (pCR) of 25% after total neoadjuvant therapy compared with standard 15% after preoperative CRT.
Background: The role of remission status in limited disease (LD) small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients treated with definitive chemoradiotherapy (CRT) remains to be finally clarified.

A simplified version of the so-called HGG-Immuno RPA model estimates the prognosis of relapsed HGG patients and distinguishes three different prognostic classes (I = good, II = intermediate, III = poor). Here, we compared the feasibility of CRT and the effects of various comorbidities on the prognosis of a minimally selected population of inoperable NSCLC patients aged 60-77 years.
Patients And Methods: The study comprised 161 patients with inoperable NSCLC who received CRT with a target radiation dose greater than 60 Gy and platinum-based chemotherapy from 1998 to 2007.
