Background: School-based physical activity (PA) programs are an equitable, evidence-based approach to combat health and PA disparities. This study examined factors associated with implementation of BE Physically Active 2Day (BEPA 2.0), a K-5 school-based PA program, and examined how support from Cooperative Extension via Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) partners influenced implementation.

Despite its public health significance, we lack high-throughput diagnostics, therapeutics, and a comprehensive knowledge of OROV biology. Reporter viruses are valuable tools to rapidly study virus dynamics and develop neutralization and antiviral screening assays.

Disease-specific, patient-reported outcome (PRO) instruments are needed to assess symptoms important to individuals with DM. This study aimed to conceptualize patient DM experience and disease activity definition to refine the development of the Dermatomyositis Disease Symptom Questionnaire (DM-DSQ), a novel PRO instrument capturing patient-reported symptoms.

There is a fundamental gap in our understanding of how diabetes mellitus, specifically type 2 diabetes, influences pathogenesis.

While shared decision-making (SDM)-a model of patient-provider communication-about IPV could benefit LGBTQ POC, its unique challenges merit consideration. This study identifies key factors affecting SDM between LGBTQ POC and healthcare providers surrounding IPV.

High school student athletes can be further challenged by sports-related stressors that may lead to anxiety, burnout, depression, disordered eating, sleep difficulty, performance-based identity concerns, and substance use. High school football players, in particular, are at higher risk of concussion, musculoskeletal injury, and may feel excess pressure to compete from coaches, parents, and peers.

REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a parasomnia with dream enactment and presence of REM sleep without atonia (RSWA). RBD diagnosed manually via polysomnography (PSG) scoring, which is time intensive. Isolated RBD (iRBD) is also associated with a high probability of conversion to Parkinson's disease.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOmadacycline is an amino-methylcycline antibiotic that is indicated for the treatment of adults with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP) and acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI). Like many new antibiotics, there are scant real-world effectiveness data for omadacycline. There is also a high potential that an omadacycline prescription is rejected or reversed, and it is not known whether patients who have an unapproved omadacycline claim are at higher risk for 30-day emergency department (ED)/inpatient (IP) visits.

This study explores the impact of four-day school weeks on early elementary achievement. Using covariate adjusted regression analyses and data on all students who entered kindergarten in Oregon, USA between 2014 and 2016, we examine differences in 3rd grade math and English Language Arts test scores (i.e.

Aim: Describe lessons learned, considerations, and recommendations from the experience of a community teaching kitchen (CTK) in addressing food insecurity and chronic disease management among patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Setting: The Providence CTK is co-located at Providence Milwaukie Hospital in Portland, Oregon.
Integrated medical and social care via community health worker (CHW) services is a growing area of interest, particularly among health care organizations that offer care for underserved populations. Establishing Medicaid reimbursement for CHW services is only one step to improve access to CHW services. Minnesota is one of 21 states that authorize Medicaid payment for CHW services.

In response to Maryland's all-payer global budget financing system, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Western Maryland developed an outpatient care management center called the Center for Clinical Resources (CCR) to support high-risk patients with chronic disease.
Objective: Evaluate the impact of the CCR on patient-reported, clinical, and resource utilization outcomes for high-risk rural patients with diabetes.
Social drivers of health impact health outcomes for patients with diabetes, and are areas of interest to health systems, researchers, and policymakers. To improve population health and health outcomes, organizations are integrating medical and social care, collaborating with community partners, and seeking sustainable financing with payors. We summarize promising examples of integrated medical and social care from the Merck Foundation Bridging the Gap: Reducing Disparities in Diabetes Care initiative.

Objective: Determine if an innovative population health program that integrates medical and social care models improves clinical outcomes for patients with type 2 diabetes in a resource-constrained, frontier area.
Background: Medical mistrust has had devastating consequences during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in rural communities. Community Health Workers (CHWs) have been shown to build trust, but there is little research on trust-building by CHWs in rural communities.
Objective: This study aims to understand the strategies that CHWs use to build trust with participants of health screenings in frontier Idaho.
Background: Patients with type 2 diabetes frequently have both medical- and health-related social needs that must be addressed for optimal disease management. Growing evidence suggests that intersectoral partnerships between health systems and community-based organizations may effectively support improved health outcomes for patients with diabetes.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to describe stakeholders' perceptions of the implementation factors associated with a diabetes management program, an intervention involving coordinated clinical and social services supports to address both medical- and health-related social needs.
La Clínica del Pueblo (LCDP), a federally qualified health center that serves the low-income, Latino/a/x community in D.C., used the Partnership Assessment Tool for Health (PATH) to assess two cross-sector partnerships: a medical-legal partnership with a legal services agency and a five-year partnership with FRESHFARM focused on alleviating food insecurity.

Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is parasomnia and a prodromal manifestation of Parkinson's disease. The current diagnostic method relies on manual scoring of polysomnograms (PSGs), a procedure that is time and effort intensive, subject to interscorer variability, and requires high level of expertise. Here, we present an automatic and interpretable diagnostic tool for RBD that analyzes PSGs using end-to-end deep neural networks.

Background: Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2Is) are a recent class of medication approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Previous meta-analyses have quantified the benefits and harms of SGLT2Is; however, these analyses have been limited to specific outcomes and comparisons and included trials of short duration. We comprehensively reviewed the longer-term benefits and harms of SGLT2Is compared to placebo or other anti-hyperglycemic medications.
