Update on Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Surgical Staging of Endometrial Carcinoma.

Sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy has emerged as an alternative staging approach in women with assumed early-stage endometrial carcinoma. Through image-guided surgery and pathologic ultrastaging, the SLN approach is introducing "precision medicine" to the surgical management of gynecologic cancers, providing a comprehensive evaluation of high-yield lymph nodes. This approach improves the surgeons' ability to detect small-volume metastatic disease while reducing intraoperative and postoperative morbidity associated with lymphadenectomy.

Photodynamic therapy of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 1-3 and human papilloma virus (HMV) infection with methylaminolevulinate and hexaminolevulinate--a double-blind, dose-finding study.

Introduction: Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) 1-3 is the precursor of invasive cervical cancer and associated with human papillomavirus infection. Standard treatment is surgical and may be associated with subsequent pregnancy complications. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) of CIN may be an interesting alternative.

Deep vein thrombosis after elective cesarean section.

Introduction: Pregnancy is associated with an overall 5-10 fold increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). The absolute risk is highest during and shortly after delivery. Although operative delivery further increases the risk of VTE, there is no consensus on thromboprophylaxis after an elective cesarean.

Testing for toxoplasmosis in pregnancy: a study of the routines in primary antenatal care.

Objectives: The question of benefit of screening for antibodies against Toxoplasma gondii in pregnancy to prevent impairment in the infant has not been settled. Despite this, it is believed that such testing is common. The aim of this study was to describe the test routines and to identify factors associated with testing in primary antenatal care.
