Article Synopsis
  • The PML technique is used for accurately truncating domains in a reactive scattering problem involving the adsorption and desorption of H(2) on a surface.
  • The study employs finite difference methods for spatial discretization and the Arnoldi method for time propagation, comparing PML's effectiveness with other techniques like monomial and transmission-free complex absorbing potentials.
  • Results show that PML is both accurate and efficient, delivering controlled errors for high-accuracy numerical simulations.

The stress field equations for two-dimensional disordered isostatic granular materials are reformulated, giving new results beyond the commonly accepted force chains. Localized loads give rise to exactly determinable cones of influence, bounded by stress chains. Disorder couples same-source chains, attenuates stresses along chains, causes stress leakage from chains into the cone, and gives rise to branching.
