Background: Problem-solving skills are some of the leading strategies for dynamism in the content and quality of nursing care.

Aim: The present study is aimed at determining nursing students' problem-solving, solution-focused thinking, and emotional intelligence levels and investigating the relationship between their problem-solving skills and these variables.

Methods: The study comprised 305 nursing students in Turkey.

Survival Outcomes of Patients with Primary Plasma Cell Leukemia in the Era of Proteasome Inhibitors and Immunomodulatory Agents: A Real-Life Multicenter Analysis.

Objective: In this study, we aimed to obtain real-life data on the use of antimyeloma agents, which significantly increase overall survival (OS) in multiple myeloma (MM) patients, in primary plasma cell leukemia (pPCL) patients with poor prognosis.

Materials And Methods: Data from 53 patients who were diagnosed with pPCL between 2011 and 2020 and who used at least one proteasome inhibitor (PI) and/or immunomodulatory (IMID) agent were analyzed retrospectively. Depending on the year of the pPCL diagnosis, 20% leukocytes or ≥2x10/L plasma cells in the peripheral blood was used as a diagnostic criterion.

The Predictive Effect of the Level of Psychological Resilience on the Level of Readiness for Discharge in Patients Undergoing Orthopaedic Surgery.

The prognostic value of HALP score and sPESI in predicting in-hospital mortality in patients with pulmonary thromboembolism.

Background: Pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE), often arising from deep vein thrombosis, remains a high-mortality condition despite diagnostic advancements. Prognostic models like Pulmonary Embolism Severity Index (PESI) and sPESI identify low-risk groups effectively. The Hemoglobin, Albumin, Lymphocyte, and Platelet (HALP) score, reflecting nutritional status and systemic inflammation, shows prognostic value in cancers and cardiovascular diseases.

Increased platelet-leucocyte complexes do not result in coagulation activation in plateletpheresis donors.

Background: Although plateletpheresis donation is commonly accepted as a safe procedure, its influence on platelet function, coagulation system and fibrinolysis is not completely elucidated.

Objectives: In this study, we tried to assess the effects of plateletpheresis on donor's hemostasis system by measuring platelet activation, development of platelet-leukocyte aggregates, and coagulation activation.

Vital indicators in predicting burn mortality: A comparison of shock indices and burn shock indices.

Background/aim: In many studies, shock indices have proven to be good tools for predicting mortality. In the present study, burn shock index (BSI), percentage of total body surface area burned (TBSA%) multiplied by shock index; burn modified shock index (BMSI), TBSA% multiplied by modified shock index; burn age shock index (BASI), TBSA% multiplied by age shock index; burn rivers shock index (BrSI), TBSA% multiplied by rivers shock index; burn rivers shock index multiplied by Glasgow Coma Scale score (BrSIG) were examined in burn patients. We defined these burn shock indices for the first time.

Comprehensive genome analysis of five novel flavobacteria: Flavobacterium piscisymbiosum sp. nov., Flavobacterium pisciphilum sp. nov., Flavobacterium flavipigmentatum sp. nov., Flavobacterium lipolyticum sp. nov. and Flavobacterium cupriresistens sp. nov.

A polyphasic approach involving a comprehensive genome analysis was employed to ascertain the taxonomic provenance of the strains.

Noncardiac Surgery in Patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices: A 11-Year Institutional Experience.

Introduction: Limited options in the end-stage treatment of heart failure have led to increased use of left ventricular assist devices. For this reason, the rate of non-cardiac surgeries in patients with left ventricular assist devices is also increasing. Our study aims to analyze surgical rate, anesthesia management, and results by reviewing our 11-year experience with patients who underwent non-cardiac surgery receiving left ventricular assist devices support.

Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis patients with late diagnosed in single orthopedic clinic: two novel variants in the CYP27A1 gene.

Background: Cerebrotendinous Xanthomatosis (CTX) is a rare autosomal recessive lipid storage disorder caused by loss of function variants in the CYP27A1 gene which encodes sterol 27-hydroxylase, on chromosome 2q35. Although the symptoms begin commonly in infancy, CTX diagnosis is often delayed. The aim of this study is to review the orthopedic findings of the disease by providing an overview of the clinical features of the disease.

The Relationship Between Spiritual Well-Being and Post-Traumatic Growth in Turkish Patients Undergoing Solid Organ Transplantation.

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and post-traumatic growth in solid organ transplant patients. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 366 patients who presented to the organ transplantation polyclinic of a university hospital between September 2021 and February 2022 in Turkey. The mean Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory and Spiritual Well-Being Scale scores of solid organ transplant patients were 81.

HLA Alleles, Genotype and Haplotype Analyzes from Central Anatolia Region of Turkey.

Background: Although human leukocyte antigen (HLA) data for the Turkish population has been reported, there are no statistics on the HLA-DPB1 locus, which has recently received significant attention, particularly in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In addition, there is no study that has reported the 2-6 loci HLA haplotype distribution, 8-digit HLA allele frequency, and genotype frequency in the Turkish population.

Aims: To evaluate the low and high resolution (2-4-8 digits) HLA-A, -B, -C, -DRB1, -DQB1, -DPB1 allele data using the data of 6100 healthy individuals from the Central Anatolian region of Turkey.

Repair of severe aortic insufficiency and stenosis after Ozaki surgery with Perceval™ sutureless aortic valve.

The Ozaki technique is a novel technique which involves constructing a new aortic valve with autologous pericardium. The Perceval™ aortic valve is a foldable, stent-inserted aortic valve bioprosthesis that can be placed seamlessly. In a 58-year-old female patient who previously underwent the Ozaki procedure, severe aortic regurgitation and aortic valve stenosis were observed and surgical repair was performed using a Perceval™ valve.

The effectiveness of shock indices on prognosis in burn patients admitted to the emergency department.

Background: Shock index (SI) is the ratio of heart rate (HR) to systolic blood pressure (SBP); modified SI (MSI) is the ratio of HR to mean arterial pressure; age SI (ASI) is age multiplied by SI; reverse SI (rSI) is the ratio of SBP to HR; and rSIG is rSI multiplied by Glasgow Coma Scale Score (rSIG). Studies have proven that shock indices are good tools in predicting mortality. Protective effectiveness of anise against testicular ischemia and reperfusion injury: An experimental study in rats.

Plasma exchange in acute hemolytic reaction due to ABO-incompatible erythrocyte concentrate transfusions: Single center experience.

Comparison of the effectiveness of cyclosporine and tacrolimus in preventing acute rejection and their effects on kidney functions.

Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the effects of cyclosporine (CsA) and tacrolimus (TAC) on preventing acute rejection and analyze the side-effect profiles of both agents, particularly on kidney functions.

Patients And Methods: In our study, 71 patients who underwent heart transplantation were included. For maintenance immunosuppression, 28 of these patients were treated with mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), steroid, and steroid CsA, and 43 of them were treated with MMF steroid and TAC.

Acute kidney injury early after left ventricular assist device implantation: incidence, risk factors and clinical consequences.

Objective: Renal dysfunction or renal failure is a common complication in patients undergoing a left ventricular assist device (LVAD). Measurement of serum creatinine and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is the most commonly used inexpensive and easy method for the evaluation of kidney function. In studies, the development of acute kidney injury (AKI) after LVAD has generally been studied at 1, 3 months and 1 year, but there are almost no studies with 1-week data.
