Introduction: For preterm infants, the first two weeks after birth are a time when nutrition and protein intake is variable and often falls below recommended intakes. Our objective was to investigate the relationship between protein intake, including source of protein, during the first two weeks after birth and fat-free mass (FFM) accretion in a group of very preterm infants.

Methods: In this observational cohort study, body composition was assessed using air displacement plethysmography in eligible infants <32 weeks gestational age at two weeks after birth and prior to discharge.

Article Synopsis
  • Atrial flutter (AFL) is a common issue that can arise after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for atrial fibrillation, especially in patients who have undergone atrial septal defect (ASD) occlusion, creating specific challenges for treatment.
  • A case study of a 46-year-old woman with a history of ASD occlusion showed that she developed symptomatic AFL after RFA, but was successfully treated with pulsed field ablation (PFA) guided by intracardiac echocardiography (ICE), leading to the termination of AFL without complications.
  • Pulsed field ablation could be a safer alternative to traditional methods for this patient population, as it allows for effective treatment while reducing risks near the ASD oc

  • - Tuberculosis (TB) poses a major global health issue, particularly in Indonesia, where it has high prevalence rates, especially in East Java and Surabaya, which reported around 4,628 cases in 2021, highlighting the urgent need for effective transmission prevention strategies among patients.
  • - The study employed a cross-sectional design involving 144 TB patients from community health centers in Surabaya, utilizing questionnaires to analyze factors such as knowledge, supportive behavior, and medication adherence, with statistical methods used for data analysis.
  • - Findings indicated that higher levels of knowledge, supportive behavior, and medication adherence significantly influenced the transmission prevention behavior of TB patients, suggesting the necessity of targeted programs to improve these factors and enhance TB control efforts. *

Left bundle branch pacing (LBBP) has been subject to increasing interest over the last few years due to its capacity for physiological conduction and its advantages compared to His bundle pacing. His bundle pacing has certain limitations, such as a small pacing area for the His bundle, a high threshold that leads to battery depletion, a low R-wave amplitude that may result in atrial or His oversensing, and ventricular signal undersensing. In this case series, four patients (two female and two male) aged 62.

Introduction: human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and tuberculosis (TB) remain global health problems and impose a substantial reduction in people´s quality of life (QoL). This study aimed to assess and compare the QoL in HIV and TB patients and factors associated with QoL between those groups.

Methods: a cross-sectional study was conducted at a hospital clinic in Jayapura, Indonesia, between December 2022 and March 2023.

Background: Several vaccines have been approved against COVID-19, and 5 have been used in Indonesia. Due to the decrease in antibody levels 3 to 6 months after the second dose of CoronaVac, healthcare workers received the third booster of mRNA vaccine (mRNA-1273) to increase the antibody level. This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors of anti-S-RBD IgG levels differences in healthcare workers.

Norovirus (NoV) is a leading cause of epidemic and sporadic gastroenteritis in people of all ages. Humans are the primary source of NoV and household contact is one of the risk factors for NoV transmission. However, the mechanisms underlying person-to-person NoV transmission are poorly understood.

Objectives: Enteral nutrition with unfortified human milk during the first 2 postnatal weeks often leads to cumulative protein and energy deficits among preterm infants. Fortified human milk administered soon after birth could increase fat-free mass (FFM) and improve growth in these infants.

Methods: This was a masked, randomized trial.

Using DNA as the medium to store information has recently been recognized as a promising solution for long-term data storage. While several system prototypes have been demonstrated, the error characteristics in DNA data storage are discussed with limited content. Due to the data and process variations from experiment to experiment, the error variation and its effect on data recovery remain to be uncovered.

The long COVID-19 pandemic has limited the activities of Ruang Publik Terpadu Ramah Anak (RPTRA) such as environment cleaning, repair of RPTRA infrastructure, learning and others, as well as the lack of public awareness about the existence and importance of RPTRA to the public and foreign tourists encouraging the RPTRA to make changes in the dissemination of information about the activities carried out in the RPTRA through the use of technology to survive and grow even during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The methodology used in this research is Group Discussion Forum with the administrators of the RPTRA Maya ASRI 13 to learn about the needs and expectations of the RPTRA administrators regarding the web portal to be built. Then, the implementation of the conceptual model, development, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the RPTRA information web portal was carried out.

Background: Randomized trials have not reported the effects of the early progression of feeding volumes on fluid balance and neurodevelopment among infants born extremely preterm (≤28 weeks).

Method: Fluid, electrolyte, and neurodevelopment data of 60 extremely preterm infants randomly assigned to receive either 1 (early feeding group) or 4 days (late feeding group) of trophic feeding volumes at 20-24 mL/kg/day were analyzed.

Results: Infants randomized to the early feeding group received less parenteral fluids, generated lower urine volumes, and had less excessive weight loss during the first 14 days after birth.

There is an increase in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) after disasters to assess impacts, including damage and losses worldwide in poorer and more prosperous countries. In Indonesia, there is a substantial increase in the use of UAVs to assess post-disaster damages. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of documentation on the lessons on the effectiveness and efficiency of UAVs in post-disaster mappings from Indonesia.

Introduction: The indigenous Papuans of Indonesia's Tanah Papua Island have been a distinct cultural and racial entity from the rest of the country's inhabitants. Furthermore, antiretroviral therapy's inability to reduce mortality and incidence rates in this region has sparked public interest in HIV issues, which has resulted in increased stigma. Papuans were more interested in memorizing the symptoms than using antiretroviral as an effective therapy.

  • * Earthquakes near the fault are more frequent in the eastern section, suggesting the western part might be locked and potentially dangerous due to high compression rates observed in nearby areas.
  • * These findings highlight the need to update Indonesia's national hazard maps to incorporate the earthquake risks associated with the Baribis Fault, especially given its proximity to the densely populated Jakarta area.

  • A study by Indonesia's BMKG identified seismic gaps south of Java, indicating areas that could produce major earthquakes in the future.
  • Tsunami models predict that if major segments of the megathrust fault rupture simultaneously, waves could reach heights of up to 20 meters on West Java's coast.
  • These findings emphasize the need to enhance Indonesia's Tsunami Early Warning System (InaTEWS), particularly to protect the densely populated region of Java.
