BCR::ABL1-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) pose a substantial risk of thrombosis, leading to significant morbidity and mortality. Anticoagulant therapy, historically based on vitamin K antagonists (VKAs), has limitations in preventing recurrent thrombotic events and managing bleeding complications. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) offer a potential alternative with improved pharmacokinetics and compliance.

Spiritual care is an important part of holistic care and is at the center of nursing/midwifery care. Nurses/midwives are expected to graduate by receiving adequate training in spiritual care and gaining spiritual care competence during their student days. It is important to evaluate the spiritual care competencies of nursing/midwifery students and to correct the deficiencies, if any.

Objective: We investigated the occurrence and characteristics of secondary solid cancers (SSCs) in patients with Philadelphia chromosome-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (Ph- MPNs) from Türkiye. We identified the potential risk factors for SSC development, including the impact of cytoreductive therapies, and we assessed the influence of SSC on patient survival.

Materials And Methods: A total of 1013 Ph- MPN patients diagnosed between 1995 and 2022 were retrospectively analyzed.

Superwarfarins are anticoagulant rodenticides nearly 100-fold potent than the parent compound. Since their development, accidental and intentional cases of superwarfarin poisoning have been reported. We report the first human case of poisoning by butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) quinone methide acting as a superwarfarin otherwise reported to be a well tolerated food additive and preservative and used as an antioxidant, stabilizer, anti-skinning agent in various industries.

The detection of lymph node metastases is essential for breast cancer staging, although it is a tedious and time-consuming task where the sensitivity of pathologists is suboptimal. Artificial intelligence (AI) can help pathologists detect lymph node metastases, which could help alleviate workload issues. We studied how pathologists' performance varied when aided by AI.

Aim: To investigate inflammation indices and erythropoietin levels for their potential role in distinguishing polycythemia vera from secondary polycythemia and to compare different parameter combinations in terms of the diagnostic accuracy.

Methods: This retrospective cohort was created from patients assessed for polycythemia from January 2020 to December 2023. Polycythemia vera diagnosis was made according to the 2016 World Health Organization criteria ( = 145).

Polycythemia vera (PV) diagnosis remains a difficult task despite various updates in the 2016 World Health Organization (WHO) diagnostic criteria compared to 2008 criteria. This study aimed to examine the biochemical and clinical features of patients diagnosed with PV using the WHO 2016 criteria but would have been missed by the WHO 2008 criteria, and to ascertain the impact of the lowered thresholds on PV diagnosis. A total of 229 patients with suspected myeloproliferative neoplasms were included in this cross sectional study.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the temporal relationship between the first occurrence of thromboembolic events (TEE) and the timing of myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) diagnosis and to determine risk factors for TEE-related mortality in MPN.

Patients And Methods: A total of 138 BCR-ABL-negative MPN patients with TEE, diagnosed from January 2010 to December 2019, were included in this retrospective cohort. Patients were compared according to mortality and subjects were classified into three groups with respect to having suffered index TEE before, during, or after MPN diagnosis.

A multicenter, retrospective, observational study was conducted to explore effectiveness and safety of ixazomib plus lenalidomide with dexamethasone (IRd) in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) patients following at least ≥ two lines of therapy. Patients' treatment responses, overall response rate, progression-free survival rate, and adverse events were recorded. Mean age of 54 patients was 66.

Objectives: Patients with hematological malignancies have a high risk of mortality from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study aimed to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on mortality rates in patients with various hematological malignancies and to determine risk factors associated with all-cause mortality.

Methods: A multicenter, observational retrospective analysis of patients with hematological malignancies infected with COVID-19 between July 2020 and December 2021 was performed.

Serum IgG4 is typically measured for Immunoglobulin G4-related Disease (IgG4-RD), a fibroinflammatory condition associated with polyclonal increase in serum IgG4. Yet, increased IgG4 may still be monoclonal, and little is known about IgG4 POEMS syndrome. We present a case of 40-year-old male with a mass lesion in the left sacral ala.

This in vitro study was aimed to investigate the performance of the new caries detection tools on the incipient occlusal caries. In our study, 100 permanent molar teeth, which were considered to have incipient, enamel caries (D1 and D2 threshold values) according to ICDAS II score. After the visual examination, caries measurements have been applied to all teeth by using DIAGNOdent pen (DP), CarieScan PRO (CP) and SoproLife camera (SC).

Aims: Before the era of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), the presence of bone marrow fibrosis (MF) in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) has been established as a poor prognostic factor. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of imatinib treatment on MF and the prognostic significance of MF at this new era of CML therapy.

Methods: The study cohort consisted of 135 patients with CML who were exposed to imatinib.

Background: Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) causes endothelial activation and dysfunction by affecting the endothelium directly or indirectly. In maintaining the vascular integrity, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) and its receptor (VEGFR1) and angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) and its receptor (Tie-2) are very important mediators. For this reason, we aimed at studying the association of Ang-2 and VEGF and their receptors Tie-2 and VEGFR1 with CCHF infection.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is a particular type of acute myeloid leukemia with characteristic biological and clinical features, the frequent association at diagnosis of a severe hemorrhagic diathesis. Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a common autoimmune disease characterized by low platelet counts and an increased risk of bleeding. Here we present a patient with the diagnosis of APL who achieved and maintained a remission with an induction consisting of idarubicin and ATRA, and then developed corticosteroid refractory ITP which is successfully treated with laparoscopic splenectomy.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) or Moschcowitz's syndrome is characterized by platelet and von Willebrand factor (vWF) deposition in arterioles and capillaries throughout the body, which results in organ ischemia. The diagnostic pentad characterizing TTP consists of thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA), fever, neurologic manifestations, and renal insufficiency. In terms of type, TTP can be either idiopathic or secondary.
