Search for pair production of first-generation scalar leptoquarks in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV.

A search for pair production of first-generation scalar leptoquarks is performed in the final state containing two electrons and two jets using proton-proton collision data at √s = 7 TeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 33 pb⁻¹ collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions for the standard model background processes, and an upper limit is set on the leptoquark pair production cross section times β² as a function of the leptoquark mass, where β is the branching fraction of the leptoquark decay to an electron and a quark.

Background And Aim Of The Study: Functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) is commonly encountered in patients with heart failure, and is associated with an adverse prognosis. It is hypothesized that left ventricular (LV) and papillary muscle systolic dyssynchrony causes diastolic mitral regurgitation (DMR) in non-ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy (DC) patients.

Methods: A total of 77 patients with non-ischemic DC was enrolled, of whom 25 were without DMR (group I) and 52 with DMR (group II).

Alternative treatment procedure in the case of fractured abutment of adhesive bridge: a clinical report.

Unlabelled: In this case report, an alternative approach was presented for treatment of coronal fracture including pulp of maxillary central incisor, one of the abutments of an adhesive bridge, by using fiber post and tooth's own fractured component. The patient was referred to our clinic with the complaint of pain from the upper right central incisor and mobility of the adhesive bridge in maxillary anterior segment. It was realized that, the upper right central incisor, one of the abutments of the adhesive bridge, had been fractured at middle thirds of the crown including the pulp chamber.

Is there any cardioprotective role of Taurine during cold ischemic period following global myocardial ischemia?

Background: The aim of the present study was to investigate the cardioprotective effect of Taurine on the donor hearts during cold ischemic period.

Methods: 32 rats were divided into four groups (sham, taurine, ischemia, treatment group, 8 rats in each). All rats were fed with rat food for three weeks.

We are reporting a case of Shone's anomaly characterised by aortic recoarctation, mitral supravalvular membrane, bicuspid aortic valve, complicated complete atrioventricular block and bradycardia-induced nonsustained polymorphic ventricular tachycardia. We revealed mitral supravalvular membrane by 3D transoesophageal echocardiography.

Even more rare is AMI involved with both LMCA and its branches like trifurcartion or bifurcation: this is challenging for interventional cardiologists, because it involves the extension of the myocardium complicated by cardiogenic shock and its technical difficulties. Trifurcating coronary artery disease is a complex atherosclerotic process involving the origin of one or more of three side branches arising from a left main coronary vessel or trunk, with or without the involvement of LMCA itself.

The importance of the conus artery in patients with obstructive coronary artery disease.

It is well-known that collateral circulation is important in preserving ventricular functions, especially in coronary artery disease with total occlusion. The conus branch is distinct in having notable capacity of angiogenesis and arteriogenesis. We intend to emphasize the clinical importance of the conus branch by presenting two cases in which it supplied the distal regions of total occlusion.

Repair of sternal dehiscence with titanium mesh plates: the sandwich technique.

Sternal dehiscence after cardiac surgery occurs infrequently and can lead to mediastinitis and prolonged hospital stay and may even result in death. The most common treatment for mechanical sternal instability is rewiring with wound debridement. We present a case in which a modified titanium mesh plate fixation technique was used.

Search for stopped Gluinos in pp collisions at square root s=7 TeV.

The results of the first search for long-lived gluinos produced in 7 TeV pp collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider are presented. The search looks for evidence of long-lived particles that stop in the CMS detector and decay in the quiescent periods between beam crossings. In a dataset with a peak instantaneous luminosity of 1×10(32) cm-2 s-1, an integrated luminosity of 10 pb-1, and a search interval corresponding to 62 hours of LHC operation, no significant excess above background was observed.
