Recently, the use of heteropolyacid catalysts, mainly reuseable solid acid catalysts, has gained a leading role in organic synthesis due to their environmental and economic considerations and industrial utilization. The high catalytic activity, moisture sensitivity, reusability and inexpensive makes solid supported reagents attractive substituents to conventional Lewis acids.

Scoring endoscopic disease activity in colitis represents a complex task for artificial intelligence (AI), but is seen as a worthwhile goal for clinical and research use cases. To date, development attempts have relied on large datasets, achieving reasonable results when comparing normal to active inflammation, but not when generating subscores for the Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES) or ulcerative colitis endoscopic index of severity (UCEIS). Using a multi-task learning framework, with frame-by-frame analysis, we developed a machine-learning algorithm (MLA) for UCEIS trained on just 38,124 frames (73 patients with biopsy-proven ulcerative colitis).

Improving the air quality with Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes: Sensing and remediation applications in the real world.

There are many methods to purify the air but using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as adsorbents remains one of the most efficient and reliable methods, due to their high maximum adsorption capacity which renders them extremely useful for removing pollutants from the air. The different types of CNTs, their synthesis, functionalization, purification, functioning, and advantages over conventional filters are deliberated along with diverse types of CNTs like single-walled (SWCNTs), multiwalled (MWCNTs), and others, which can be functionalized and deployed for the removal of harmful gases like oxides of nitrogen and sulphur, and ozone, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs), among others.

Management strategies and outcomes in renal transplant recipients recovering from COVID-19: A retrospective, multicentre, cohort study.

Background: There is an enormous knowledge gap on management strategies, clinical outcomes, and follow-up after kidney transplantation (KT) in recipients that have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Methods: We conducted a multi-center, retrospective analysis in 23 Indian transplant centres between June 26, 2020 to December 1, 2021 on KT recipients who recovered after COVID-19 infections. We analyzed clinical and biopsy-confirmed acute rejection (AR) incidence and used cox-proportional modeling to estimate multivariate-adjusted hazard ratios (HR) for predictors of AR.

Purpose: To describe a case of a penetrating ocular trauma and plastic intraocular foreign body (IOFB), undetected on preoperative imaging.

Observations: We present the findings of a 40-year-old male who sustained an open globe injury and IOFB composed of plastic following crossbow-related trauma. Preoperative detection of the IOFB was unsuccessful on clinical exam, computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography.

Deep brain stimulation in a Parkinson's disease patient with calcifications and a mutation in the SLC20A2 gene.

A patient with Parkinson's disease (PD) who was examined as a candidate for DBS was initially rejected due to extensive brain calcifications. Upon second opinion and planning of trajectories she underwent successful surgery. Genetic analyses identified a mutation in SLC20A2, a gene known to cause brain calcifications, but no mutation known to cause PD was found.

Objective: Retrospective case record analysis of children with Neurobehavioral Deterioration associated with Sleep-augmented Epileptiform abnormalities (NDSE).

Methods: Hospital records of children with NDSE (July, 2015 through December, 2016) were analyzed. Children were categorized as: Encephalopathy with electrical status epilepticus in sleep (ESES) if sleep EEG Spike-wave-Index (SWI) was ≥50% and sleep-induced epileptiform activity (SIEA)-related cognitive dysfunction if SWI ≥25% but <50%.
