To evaluate the label accuracy and content of various hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) products (cannabinoid products with ≤0.3% Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol [THC]), as well as evaluate advertised claims on product labels. Hemp haircare, cosmetics, and food/drink products that were advertised to contain CBD were purchased from retail stores in the Baltimore, Maryland area (purchased in July 2020) and online (purchased in August 2020).

Stability of Nano-Emulsified Cannabidiol in Acidic Foods and Beverages.

Food and beverage products containing cannabidiol (CBD) is a growing industry, but some CBD products contain Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-THC), despite being labeled as "THC-free". As CBD can convert to Δ-THC under acidic conditions, a potential cause is the formation of Δ-THC during storage of acidic CBD products. Isolation and Characterization of Impurities in Commercially Marketed Δ-THC Products.

Qualitative analysis of several commercial products containing Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-THC) as a major component using GC-MS resulted in the identification of several impurities along with Δ-THC. In an attempt to isolate and identify these impurities, a commercial Δ-THC distillate was selected for the isolation work. Eleven impurities were isolated using a variety of chromatographic techniques, and their chemical structures were determined.

A GC-FID method was developed and validated for the analysis of 20 acidic and neutral cannabinoids as trimethylsilyl (TMS) derivatives.

Comparative single dose pharmacokinetics and metabolism of racemic primaquine and its enantiomers in human volunteers.

Primaquine (PQ) is a racemic drug used in treatment of malaria for six decades. Recent studies suggest that the two enantiomers of PQ are differentially metabolized in animals, and this results in different pharmacological and toxicological profiles. The current study characterizes the pharmacokinetic (PK) properties, metabolism and tolerability of the individual enantiomers of PQ in healthy human volunteers with normal glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity.

Aims/introduction: Limited studies have identified risk factors linked to the progression of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) in type 2 diabetes. This study examined the association of risk factors with change in neuropathy measures over 2 years.

Materials And Methods: Participants with type 2 diabetes (n = 78) and controls (n = 26) underwent assessment of clinical and metabolic parameters and neuropathy using corneal confocal microscopy (CCM), vibration perception threshold (VPT), and the DN4 questionnaire at baseline and 2 year follow-up.

Impact of mucoadhesive agent inclusion on the intraocular pressure lowering profile of Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol-valine-hemisuccinate loaded nanoemulsions in New Zealand white rabbits.

The current study aimed to determine the effect of inclusion of a mucoadhesive agent on the intensity and duration of intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering activity of Δ-tetrahydrocannabinol-valine-hemisuccinate (THC-VHS) loaded in a nanoemulsion (THC-VHS-NE) formulation. THC-VHS-NE formulation with Carbopol®940NF added as a mucoadhesive agent (THC-VHS-NEC) was prepared using hot-homogenization followed by probe sonication and characterized. A comparative evaluation of the IOP lowering activity of THC-VHS-NEC, THC-VHS-NE, THC-NEC, and commercial latanoprost ophthalmic solution, was undertaken in normotensive New Zealand white rabbits.

This study sought to determine whether cannabidiol (CBD) or a CBD derivative, CBD monovalinate monohemisuccinate (CBD-val-HS), could attenuate the development of oxycodone reward while retaining its analgesic effects. To determine the effect on oxycodone reward, animals were enrolled in the conditioned place preference paradigm and received either saline or oxycodone (3.0 mg/kg) in combination with either CBD or CBD-val-HS utilizing three sets of drug-/no drug-conditioning trials.

Experimental and Numerical Comparison of Impact Behavior between Thermoplastic and Thermoset Composite for Wind Turbine Blades.

Damage generated due to low velocity impact in composite plates was evaluated focusing on the design and structural integrity of wind turbine blades. Impact properties of composite plates manufactured with thermoplastic and thermoset resins for different energy levels were measured and compared. Specimens were fabricated using VARTM (vacuum assisted resin transfer molding), using both matrix systems in conjunction with carbon, glass and carbon/glass hybrid fibers in the NCF (non-crimp fabric) architecture.

Successful use of the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitor dapagliflozin in patients with renal transplant and diabetes: a case series and literature review.

Unlabelled: Management of patients with diabetes and renal transplant could be challenging. Transplant patients use multiple immune suppressants that can worsen or even trigger hyperglycemia. There are no data about the use of the new class of sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor dapagliflozin in patients with renal transplant and diabetes.

Antibacterial, antifungal and enzymatic activities of azithromycin-heavy metal complexes: Newly synthesized and characterized.

As part of our continuous research to understand the interaction mechanism of drug and metallo-elements, heavy metal complexes of azithromycin (AZI) were synthesized with arsenic oxide, lead carbonate and silver chloride salts in molar ratio of 2: 1 (L: M). Synthesized heavy metal complexes have shown good percent yield and characterized through spectroscopic parameters including UV-Visible, TLC, FT-IR, NMR and elemental analysis (CHN). Spectroscopic characterization reveals the binding of ligand AZI with heavy metals in bi-dentate manner involving the hydroxide and 9a-NCH group of the aglycone ring of AZI.
