Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the factors affecting the preference for the Pain Medicine subspecialty and the fellowship training programs by the pain specialists who have completed or continued the Pain Medicine fellowship training program from 2014 to 2021 in Turkey.
Methods: The study was conducted in October 2020 and March 2021. By reaching out to the pain specialists who completed their fellowship or had been continuing their training by getting the right to receive a Pain Medicine fellowship.
Herpes zoster (HZ) is a segmental vesicular eruption, pain, and sensorial symptoms. Segmental motor weakness can rarely be seen as a complication of HZ. Here, we present two cases of motor paresis associated with HZ, case 1 was L2 and L3 segmental motor paresis with femoral neuropathy and case 2 was L5 and S1 segmental motor paresis with sensorial ganglion involvement.

There have been several reports regarding to thoracic and lumbar SCS, while fewer publications have been documented for cervical SCS administration. In this article, we presented patient satisfaction after cervical SCS application in patients with chronic upper extremity pain.

This randomized-controlled trial aimed to investigate the effects of acupressure therapy on the management of opioid-induced constipation in patients with cancer.
Methods: The trial was conducted on 140 cancer patients, who were assigned to the acupressure (n = 70) and the control groups (n = 70).
Objectives: Clinical efficacy of easily applicable peripheral nerve blocks has been in interest except open and closed surgical procedures requiring advanced equipment. We aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of triamcinolone and lidocaine injection for peripheral nerve branches in trigeminal neuralgia (TN) in terms of pain severity, pain frequency, and drug doses used.
Methods: This study was a retrospective cohort study.
Satisfactory pain relief is a fundamental right of every patient suffering from pain. Despite the developments on pharmachologic treatment modalities and interventions for pain control, inadequacy of postoperative pain management is still a major problem. After surgical intervention, 66% of patients experience moderate to severe pain during discharge, 9% after two weeks.

Methods: A retrospective chart-review was performed on patients with pain in the HFN presenting to a tertiary pain center in Turkey between January 2016 and January 2017. Information regarding the characteristics of pain and medical and treatment history were extracted and reviewed.
Spontaneous epidural hemorrhage is one of the rare neuropathic pain etiologies. In this case, a 68-year-old patient, who had atrial fibrillation and cardioversion history, is evaluated for neuropathic pain due to spontaneous epidural hemorrhage that arose from oral anticoagulant therapy. As well as being unique in etiologic terms, we thought it is an uncommon occasion for management worth sharing.

Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the effects of abdominal massage in managing opioid-induced constipation.
Methods: Designed as a randomized controlled trial, this study was conducted between February 2017 and January 2018 with the participation of 204 patients who had complaints of opioid-induced constipation. The experimental and control group, each of which included 102 patients, were randomised using a previously prepared randomization checklist.
The modern approach to the management of pain involves optimizing all aspects of the process. This includes utilization of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic modalities, consideration of patient characteristics, proper matching of the physiology of the pain with the analgesic's mechanism of action (pharmacodynamics, PD), and the onset and duration of action (pharmacokinetics, PK). No single agent or formulation satisfies all of the requirements for all patients.

Purpose: Arthroscopic knee surgery is done in outpatient settings; however, postoperative pain is a major barrier for discharge and limits early rehabilitation. The efficacy of intraarticular application of magnesium sulphate, levobupivacaine and lornoxicam, with placebo on postoperative pain after arthroscopic meniscectomy was evaluated.
Methods: One hundred and twenty ASA status I-II patients undergoing elective arthroscopic meniscectomy were included in this randomized, single blind, prospective study.
Postoperative pain is an important parameter in discharge and rehabilitation in daycase arthroscopic knee surgery. This study compared the efficacy of intraarticular application of lornoxicam, bupivacaine and placebo on postoperative pain after arthroscopic knee surgery. With the approval of the local ethics committee and informed consent of the patients, 90 patients (ASA score I-II), aged between 18-65 years undergoing arthroscopic meniscectomy were included in this randomized, blinded, prospective study and were divided into three groups (30 patients each): 8 mg lornoxicam was applied to Group L (GL), 50 mg bupivacaine to Group B (GB) and normal saline to Group S (GS) in 20 mL volume intraarticularly.

Methods: 60 ASAI-II pediatric patients ages between 1-12. The patients were divided into 3 groups randomly.
Low back pain caused by an internally disrupted disc is a universal unresolved problem. Many treatment options have been tried and many are in development, but few have satisfactory long-term results. Although the most often used excuse for inconsistent results is poor patient selection and the lack of objective evaluation parameters, the diagnosis is often elusive and definitive selection criteria for any specific treatment modality is usually unproven.

It is generally accepted that TOS is caused by compression of brachial plexus elements or subclavian vessels in their passage from the cervical area toward the axilla and proximal arm either at the interscalene triangle, the costoclavicular triangle, or the subcoracoid space. Cervical ribs, anomalous muscles, and fibrous bands may further constrict these areas.

Background: The efficacy of venlafaxine, which is selectively effective on the serotonergic and noradrenergic mechanisms, on various headaches and chronic pain syndromes has been demonstrated. To our knowledge, this is the first placebo-controlled, double-blind, randomized study of two different doses of venlafaxine for migraine treatment.
Palliative treatment, pain therapy and quality of life (QOL) are very important in pancreatic cancer patients. We evaluated the pain relieving efficacy, side effects and effects on QOL of neurolytic coeliac plexus blockade (NCPB) and splanchnic nerves neurolytic blockade (SNB) in body and tail located pancreatic cancer. The study protocol was approved by the local ethics committee.
