In recent years especially during COVID-19, the increased usage of antiviral drugs has led to increased interest in monitoring their presence in wastewater worldwide. In this study, it was examined the occurrence, fate and environmental risks of favipiravir which is used for COVID-19 treatment in two wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) with different treatment processes in Istanbul, Turkey. Favipiravir was measured in WWTPs influent samples, effluent samples and sludge samples with maximum concentrations of 97 μg/L, 64.

The Clinical and Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) document for AV of clinical laboratory test result (AUTO-10A) includes recommendations for laboratories needing guidance on implementation of AV algorithms. The aim was to design and validate the AV algorithm for biochemical tests.

We aimed to present thalassemia mutation data that covers a period of 7 years from the Mediterranean region of Turkey by comparing with hemoglobin indices and to contribute to prenatal diagnosis and genetic counseling studies which should be decided very quickly. In this study, in which a retrospective archive was scanned, the cases were first grouped as α and β thalassemia, and then β thalassemia mutations were examined in a total of 5 groups as UTR-Pro, Codon, IVS, β, and β.

T5 and Delftia sp. T6.

Methods: This study was a prospective, institutional clinical trial including 43 patients with ocular BD. Patients were divided into two subgroups: those with active posterior segment involvement (Group A) and those with inactive ocular BD (Group B).
Background: This study was designed to investigate whether there is a correlation between interleukin (IL)-8 secretion rate and recurrences in induction bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) immunotherapy following transurethral resection (TUR) in cases of primary non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC).
Patients And Methods: A total of 41 patients with NMIBC were randomized to receive a 6-week course with a standard dose of 81 mg intravesical BCG. Voided urine samples were collected immediately before and after (at 2 and 4 hours) BCG instillation.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of the EVIGENE VRE Detection kit and compare it with PCR, considered the gold standard for detection of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). The correlation between the MIC values of vancomycin and teicoplanin using the epsilon test was also determined. In the EVIGENE VRE Detection kit, DNA probes specific for bacterial target DNA sequences are bound to microwell plates.

Methods: A total of 86 patients that were grouped as 46 patients of cold dissection tonsillectomy and 40 patients of bipolar cauterizing tonsillectomy were included in this study. Preoperative surface swab cultures, intraoperative central swab cultures of tonsils, and preoperative and postoperative blood culture samples were obtained.
Virtually every surface examined in natural, industrial and pathogenic ecosystems are colonized by biofilms consisting of adherent populations of microorganisms surrounded with a glycocalyx matrix. The development of biofilms has important economic and medical consequences. The development and use of a broad range of medical devices made us recognize a variety of infections caused by microorganisms that were regarded previously as harmless.
