Objective: To determine whether the β-lactam allergy delabeling was safe and cost-saving in Primary Care (PC) patients.

Design: We have conducted a retrospective chart review of PC patients with β-lactam allergy label evaluated in our Allergy Unit between 2017 and 2022. SITE: Allergy Department.

A Modified Schirmer Tear Test in Clinically Normal Horses: Measurement at 30 Seconds versus 60 Seconds.

This study sought to compare the Schirmer Tear Test (STT)-1 results at 30 (STT30) versus 60 (STT60) seconds in healthy horses. This study included a total of 56 healthy horses. STT-1 was performed in both eyes, right eye first, and the wetting lengths were measured in STT30 and STT60.

Use of belimumab in real-world in Spain: a scoping review about characteristics of SLE patients.

Background: Belimumab was the first biological drug approved for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). There is not a review focusing on all real-life experience with belimumab to date that could help to describe how this drug behaves in the Spanish clinical setting.

Objective: To describe the characteristics of SLE patients treated with belimumab added to standard of care in real-clinical setting in Spain.

Circulating miR-320a as a Predictive Biomarker for Left Ventricular Remodelling in STEMI Patients Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

Restoration of epicardial coronary blood flow, achieved by early reperfusion with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI), is the guideline recommended to treat patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). However, despite successful blood restoration, increasing numbers of patients develop left ventricular adverse remodelling (LVAR) and heart failure. Therefore, reliable prognostic biomarkers for LVAR in STEMI are urgently needed.

Comparison of central corneal thickness in dogs measured by ultrasound pachymetry and ultrasound biomicroscopy.

Ultrasound pachymetry (UP) is currently the most common technique used to evaluate central corneal thickness (CCT). New devices which allow assessment of CCT without corneal contact have been compared, but there are discrepancies among instruments. The aim of this study was to compare CCT measurements obtained by UP and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in 28 eyes of 14 healthy Beagles dogs.

Diurnal variations in intraocular pressure and central corneal thickness and the correlation between these factors in dogs.

Objective: To study the diurnal variation in intraocular pressure (IOP) and central corneal thickness (CCT) in healthy Beagles by rebound tonometry and ultrasonic pachymetry, respectively, in addition to determining whether a correlation exists between these two variables.

Animals Studied: Twenty eyes from 10 healthy Beagle dogs were included in the study.

Procedures: The IOP and CCT were measured by rebound tonometry and ultrasonic pachymetry, respectively, at 2-h intervals over an 8-hour period between 10:00 and 18:00.

Uncommon acute neurologic presentation of canine distemper in 4 adult dogs.

Four uncommon cases of canine distemper (CD) were diagnosed in vaccinated adult dogs. All dogs had acute onset of neurologic signs, including seizures, abnormal mentation, ataxia, and proprioceptive deficits. Polymerase chain reaction for CD virus was positive on cerebrospinal fluid in 2 cases.

Development of chromanes as novel inhibitors of the uncoupling proteins.

The uncoupling proteins (UCPs) are mitochondrial carriers that modulate the energetic efficiency and, as a result, can lower superoxide levels. Here, we describe the discovery of a small-molecule inhibitor of the UCPs. Screening of potential UCP1 regulators led to the identification of chromane derivatives that inhibit its proton conductance.

Value of NT-ProBNP level and echocardiographic parameters in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction treated by primary angioplasty: relationships between these variables and their usefulness as predictors of ventricular remodeling.

Introduction And Objectives: To assess the value of N-terminal fragment of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) measurement and echocardiography for predicting ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction and to investigate relationships between the NT-proBNP level and echocardiographic parameters at discharge and in the medium term.

Methods: The study involved 159 patients with myocardial infarction treated by primary coronary angioplasty. The NT-proBNP level was measured on admission, at discharge and after 6 months.

Preliminary experience with conversion from calcineurin inhibitors to everolimus in cardiac transplantation maintenance therapy.

Introduction: Everolimus has been prescribed both for initial and maintenance therapy after cardiac transplantation. Herein, we present our initial experience with everolimus as maintenance therapy after cardiac transplantation.

Methods: We retrospectively included all of our patients in whom therapy was changed from calcineurin inhibitors to everolimus between September 2006 and October 2007.

Sirolimus experience in heart transplantation.

Introduction: Sirolimus is a potent, nonnephrotoxic immunosuppressant with antiproliferative activity in nonimmune cells. Recent data support the conversion in late renal failure secondary to calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs), with limited experience in de novo regimens in patients with predictive factors of postoperative renal impairment.

Objective: We evaluated our experience of sirolimus-based immunosuppression administered to 25 heart transplant recipients.

[Percutaneous treatment of bifurcation lesions by crush T stenting: immediate and medium-term outcomes].

Introduction And Objectives: Percutaneous coronary intervention for coronary bifurcations is usually associated with a low success rate, a high rate of complications, and a more frequent need for target lesion revascularization. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate immediate and medium-term clinical and angiographic outcomes after the application of crush T stenting.

Methods: This approach to bifurcation stenting follows the same steps as modified T stenting.

The meaning of psychological symptoms: effectiveness of a group intervention with hypochondriacal patients.

A group treatment for hypochondriasis was administered to 14 subjects. It was based on Barsky, Geringer and Wool (1988) [General Hospital Psychiatry, 10, 322-327] cognitive-behavioral formulation and presented as an educational course to explain the origins of an enhanced perception of somatic symptoms. Initially, one experimental group (N = 9) and a waiting list control (N = 8) were formed.
