Background: Economic evaluation aims to compare the costs and results of health strategies to inform public decision making. Although sometimes suggested, until now no national evaluation agency has recommended formally incorporating the cost of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by health interventions into the estimation of healthcare costs.

Objective: The objective of this study was to test and discuss the feasibility of estimating and including the contribution of GHG emissions cost to the total cost of a surgical intervention, with the example of robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RTA), using a micro-costing approach.

The growing urbanization process is accompanied by the emergence of new habitats for wildlife, and cities are sometimes seen as refuges for pollinators such as wild bees compared to intensively cultivated rural habitats. However, the contrasting living conditions that combine high fragmentation, exposure to pollutants, and heat island effects, with low pesticide use and potentially high availability of resources, make it difficult to predict the overall effect of urban living on the health of wild bees. Moreover, if the responses of wild bee populations in terms of species richness and diversity have been the focus of many recent studies, individual responses to urbanization have been more rarely investigated.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease, characterized by the death of upper (UMN) and lower motor neurons (LMN) in the motor cortex, brainstem, and spinal cord. Despite decades of research, ALS remains incurable, challenging to diagnose, and of extremely rapid progression. A unifying feature of sporadic and familial forms of ALS is cortical hyperexcitability, which precedes symptom onset, negatively correlates with survival, and is sufficient to trigger neurodegeneration in rodents.

The tyrosine kinase inhibitor nintedanib has been recently approved for the treatment of Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs) that manifest a progressive fibrosis phenotype other than Idiopathic pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Nintedanib reduces the development of lung fibrosis in various animal models resembling features of PF-ILD and in vitro, it inhibits the fibrosing phenotype of human lung fibroblasts (HLFs) isolated from patients with IPF. To get insight on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that drive the clinical efficiency of nintedanib in patients with non-IPF PF-ILD, we investigated its effects on the fibrosing functions of HLFs derived from patients with PF-hypersensitivity pneumonitis (PF-HP, n = 7), PF-sarcoidosis (n = 5) and pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis (PPFE, n = 4).
