Short and long term response to argon plasma therapy for hemorrhagic radiation proctitis.

Introduction: hemorrhagic radiation proctitis appears secondary to radiotherapy. Argon plasma is an effective, safe and easy-to-use technique with a relatively low cost.

Objectives: to describe the short- and long-term response to argon plasma therapy in patients with hemorrhagic radiation proctitis.

Halitosis is a common condition, whose main etiology does not respond to diseases of the gastrointestinal system. Epiphrenic diverticula are a rare cause of this manifestation, thus they are not frequent and they are usually asymptomatic. However, they may produce symptoms with inability for patient.

[Safety of reducing the recovery time after percutaneous and laparoscopic liver biopsy].

Background: Liver biopsy is the main diagnostic tool for the study of the liver, and as such, its inherent complications have been minimised as much as possible over the years, through the modification of several factors regarding its procedure, including post-biopsy recovery time. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety in the reduction of post-liver biopsy recovery time.

Material And Methods: A non-blinded, randomised clinical trial was conducted in the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Hospital from November 2011 to October 2012, on 128 patients in order to assess safety when reducing post-biopsy recovery times.
