Objectives: Adaptive immunity is crucial in controlling infection in the intestinal mucosa, and some dietary lipids may improve mucosal immune function. The aim of this study was to evaluate conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) on the Th17/Treg response and secretory IgA production in a model of giardiasis infection.
Materials And Methods: C3H/HeN male mice were infected with 5×10 trophozoites (GS/M-83-H7, ATCC collection).
Background: Reports in a northwestern Mexico state linked arsenic (As) in drinking water to DNA damage in people from indigenous communities. However, this correlation remains under discussion due to unknown variables related to nutrition, customs, and the potential presence of other metal(oid)s.
Methods: To determine this association, we sampled water from three Yaqui towns (Cócorit, Vícam, and Pótam), and analyzed the metals by ICP-OES.
Background: Physicians in daily practice frequently attend children who present an increase in lymph node size. Care should be taken to determine which children require biopsy. Our objective was to analyze the usefulness of the peripheral lymph node biopsy in pediatric diagnosis.

The mechanisms for these contradictory findings are unknown. This study analysed the histology of acinar pancreatic cells and the expression of pancreatitis-associated protein (PAP) and trypsinogen mRNA in rats fed GM soy protein.

Methods: Acute pancreatitis was induced by caerulein in male Wistar rats and followed up for 90 d by histological and mRNA analyses of pancreas. Pancreases were dissected at 0, 9, 24 h and 3, 5, 15, 30, 60, 90 d post-induction.
We report two cases of infants who presented seizures and persistent hypoglycemia. In both infants, we established diagnosis of persistent hypoglycemia by hyperinsulinism (PHH); glycemic/insulinic ratio was > 0.3, and we found no pancreatic changes by means of other diagnostic procedures.
