Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria and compared it to the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) in outpatients with heart failure (HF) to determine their prognostic significance.
  • Out of 151 patients, abnormal nutritional status was found in 19.8% using GLIM and 25.1% using MNA, with MNA showing stronger predictive power for mortality and hospitalizations after five years.
  • The results indicated that malnutrition identified by the MNA was a significant predictor of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, as well as recurrent HF-related hospitalizations, while the GLIM criteria did not show the same level of predictive capability.
