Effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation of the right inferior parietal lobe on the body image perception in anorexia nervosa: A pilot randomized controlled study.

Introduction: Restrictive anorexia nervosa (AN) is associated with distorted perception of body shape, previously linked to hypoactivity and reduced excitability of the right inferior parietal lobe (rIPL). Here, we investigated the impact of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF rTMS) of the rIPL on body shape perception in patients with AN.

Methods: Seventeen patients with AN (median [Q1_Q3] age, 35 [27_39] years; disease duration, 12 [6_18] years) were randomly assigned to receive real or sham HF (10 Hz) rTMS of the rIPL over a period of 2 weeks, comprising 10 sessions.

Impact of multiple sclerosis on employment and income: Insights from a random sample representative of private sector employees in France using longitudinal administrative data.

In France, few data sources are available to estimate the impact of multiple sclerosis (MS) on job retention and its consequences on the level of resources, especially in large representative samples. The aim of the present study was to measure impact of MS on employment rates, wages and income (including unemployment benefit, sickness benefit and disability pension) by comparing work trajectories of people living with MS with those of a matched control group. We used the HYGIE database, which is the result of the linkage of two administrative databases in the private sector for a random sample of over 900,000 people.

Neuropsychological assessment fails to predict relapse among cigarette smokers: A prospective study of neurocognitive abilities.

Objectives: Understanding the factors that lead to relapse is a major challenge for the clinical support of smoking cessation. Neurocognitive abilities such as attention, executive functioning and working memory, are possible predictors of relapse and can be easily assessed in everyday clinical practice. In this prospective longitudinal study, we investigated the relationship between pre-smoking cessation neurocognitive performance and relapse at six months in a sample of patients being treated for their tobacco dependence.

Divergent molecular networks program functionally distinct CD8 skin-resident memory T cells.

Skin-resident CD8 T cells include distinct interferon-γ-producing [tissue-resident memory T type 1 (T1)] and interleukin-17 (IL-17)-producing (T17) subsets that differentially contribute to immune responses. However, whether these populations use common mechanisms to establish tissue residence is unknown. In this work, we show that T1 and T17 cells navigate divergent trajectories to acquire tissue residency in the skin.

How to reduce the complication rate of multiple burr holes surgery in moyamoya angiopathy.

Purpose: This study is aimed at analyzing clinical outcome, absence of stroke recurrence, revascularization, and complications and long-term follow-up in the surgical treatment of moyamoya angiopathy (MMA) using the multiple burr holes (MBH) technique with dura opening and arachnoid preservation as a single procedure. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first to describe an MBH technique with arachnoid preservation.

Method: We retrospectively reviewed all patients operated from June 2001 to March 2021, for a symptomatic and progressive MMA operated with opening of the dura but arachnoid preservation.

B Cells from Aged Mice Do Not Have Intrinsic Defects in Affinity Maturation in Response to Immunization.

Affinity maturation, the progressive increase in serum Ab affinity after vaccination, is an essential process that contributes to an effective humoral response against vaccines and infections. Germinal centers are key for affinity maturation, because they are where B cells undergo somatic hypermutation of their Ig genes in the dark zone before going through positive selection in the light zone via interactions with T follicular helper cells and follicular dendritic cells. In aged mice, affinity maturation has been shown to be impaired after immunization, but whether B cell-intrinsic factors contribute to this defect remains unclear.

EGFR-targeted semiconducting polymer nanoparticles for photoacoustic imaging.

Semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (SPN), formulated from organic semiconducting polymers and lipids, show promise as exogenous contrast agents for photoacoustic imaging (PAI). To fully realise the potential of this class of nanoparticles for imaging and therapeutic applications, a broad range of active targeting strategies, where ligands specific to receptors on the target cells are displayed on the SPN surface, are urgently needed. In addition, effective strategies for quantifying the level of surface modification are also needed to support development of ligand-targeted SPN.
