Which treatment in acetabular fractures of the elderly: Osteosynthesis, osteosynthesis-THA or orthopedic treatment? 2-years retrospective outcomes of a therapeutic algorithm.

Introduction: Acetabular fractures account for 7% of osteoporotic fractures, with an epidemiological peak between 75 and 80 years of age. The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of treatment of these fractures in a population aged over 65.

Hypothesis: Surgical treatment would lead to better survival and functional outcomes in the management of acetabular fractures in subjects aged over 65.

Hip shelf acetabuloplasty in borderline dysplasia, an alternative between Periacetabular Osteotomy and arthroscopic procedures.

Purpose: Surgical treatments for symptomatic borderline dysplastic hips (Lateral Center-Edge Angle: LCEA 18-25°) remain challenging, instability being the primary issue. Currently, treatment options include arthroscopic procedures or peri-acetabular osteotomy (PAO). Although the popularity of the acetabular shelf bone block has declined in favor of PAO, it may still be relevant as a hip joint stabilizer and coverage area, rather than for increasing coverage area by cartilage.

No significant differences in 60-day postoperative complication rates between conventional and shortened stems.

Purpose: To compare 60-day complication rates, radiographic outcomes, and clinical outcomes following primary THA with conventional versus shortened stems, in a large cohort study.

Methods: The authors reviewed a consecutive series of 800 primary THAs, of which 781 met the inclusion/exclusion criteria: 395 received a conventional stem and 386 received a shortened stem. Intraoperative and postoperative complications were noted.

Introduction: Knee osteoarthritis is the main indication for primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). It is now accepted that cementless implantation of the femoral component provides equivalent results to cemented one, however, the optimal fixation method of the tibial component remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to compare the survivorship of cemented versus cementless tibial baseplate in primary total knee arthroplasty.
