It is well known that cardiometabolic dysfunction gradually increases after menopause, and the sedentary lifestyle can aggravate this condition. Therefore, we compared the effects of aerobic exercise training during the premenopausal period and after ovariectomy (OVX) on metabolic, hemodynamic, and autonomic parameters in an experimental rat model of menopause. Sepsis is a leading cause of death in hospitalized patients. Many experimental treatments may have failed in clinical trials for sepsis, in part, because they focused on immune responses of healthy animals that did not mimic the metabolic settings of septic patients. Epidemiological studies show an association between metabolic and immune alterations and over 1/3 of septic patients are diabetic, but the mechanism linking these systems is unknown.

The prevalence of hypertension sharply increases in menopausal women. Recent studies have demonstrated that aerobic or resistance training may help control hypertension. In this study, we report that combining aerobic and resistance training may provide an effective therapeutic approach for hypertension control, attenuating inflammation and oxidative stress in ovariectomized rats.
