Despite the widespread use of transvaginal ultrasound-guided oocyte retrieval in assisted reproductive technology procedures, there is a lack of systematic data on the incidence and nature of its complications. This makes it difficult for healthcare providers to fully understand and manage the risks associated with the procedure, and for patients to make informed decisions about their care.
