Objectives: Endoscopic vacuum therapy (EVT) possesses a unique mechanism of action providing a less invasive alternative for the management of transmural gastrointestinal defects (TGID). This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of a novel homemade EVT (H-EVT) for the treatment of TGID.
Methods: Retrospective multicenter study including patients who underwent H-EVT for TGID between January 2019 and January 2022.
Gastric cancer (GC) ranks fourth in overall cancer mortality. Bariatric surgical procedures, especially the gastric bypass surgery (GBS), raise a concern about the risk of GC in the excluded stomach (ES). Diagnosis of GC in the ES is challenging due to anatomical changes and impossibility of endoscopic access to the ES.

In order to obtain a significant amount of information, in each of the two conditions, 270 measurements were obtained for each of the quality characteristics. Three different equipments (Automatic Package Analyzer - APA) were used in ten different parts, replicated three times for each of them.

Background: In order to simplify a percutaneous gastrostomy procedure and avoid the need of endoscopy or imaging methods, a novel percutaneous magnetically guided gastrostomy (PMG) technique was conceived. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the feasibility of a novel PMG technique with no endoscopy or any imaging guidance in a porcine model.
Methods: Fourteen crossbred domestic pigs were used for prototype development (cadaveric experiments) and proof-of concept, survival study.
Meckel's diverticulum (MD) is estimated to affect 1%-2% of the general population, and it represents a clinically silent finding of a congenital anomaly in up to 85% of the cases. In adults, MD may cause symptoms, such as overt occult lower gastrointestinal bleeding. The diagnostic imaging workup includes computed tomography scan, magnetic resonance imaging enterography, technetium 99m scintigraphy (99mTc) using either labeled red blood cells or pertechnetate (known as the Meckel's scan) and angiography.

Purpose Of Review: The diagnosis of aspiration and its origin in patients on enteral tube feeding is challenging to the physician and provides an important means to prevent pneumonia. This review examines the most recent studies and developments in the field with an approach to the technical aspects of diagnostic methods.
Recent Findings: The methods more commonly used to detect anterograde aspiration in clinical practice are fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing and modified barium swallowing.

Purpose Of Review: Aspiration is one of the most common complications in enterally fed patients. The source of aspiration is due to the accumulation of secretions in the pharynx of reflux gastric contents from the stomach into the pharynx. The true prevalence of aspiration is difficult to determine because of vague definitions, poor assessment methods, and varying levels of clinical recognition.
