Elaboration and validation of a protocol for the care of patients with COVID-19 in hemodialysis centers.

Objective: To describe the elaboration and validation of a protocol for the care of suspected patients with Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) undergoing hemodialysis.

Method: A methodological study conducted from March to August 2020 at a hospital in southern Brazil. The study involved situational diagnosis, literature review, protocol elaboration and content validation (scope, clarity and relevance).

Calculation of Kt/V in haemodialysis: a comparison between the formulas.

Introduction: The quality of delivered dialysis can be measured by the Kt/V ratio, which can be calculated in various ways.

Objective: To compare the Kt/V ratio obtained with the formulas of Lowrie (L) and Daugirdas (D) with the results measured by an Online Clearance Monitor (OCM).

Method: Observational, cross-sectional study of 59 patients on hemodialysis (HD).

[Complications that bring a chronic renal patient to emergency health services].

Chronic kidney disease usually presents a variety of severe and chronic complications forcing patients to look for emergency services. This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted to get to know the profile of the chronic renal patient with complications, who looks for emergency health services. The sample encompassed 139 patients, who were treated in the Hospital de Clínicas emergency service in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
