De novo glomerular injuries or relapse of nephropathy following COVID-19 vaccine has been reported. Here we present the first case of successful treatment of new-onset diabetes mellitus and biopsy-proven IgA nephropathy after COVID-19 vaccination. A 56-year-old man with no known medical history of renal dysfunction or diabetes mellitus developed both within 3 months after receiving a third dose of inactivated COVID-19 vaccine (Vero cells).

Purpose: The current study aimed to reveal a novel immune-related signature to evaluate immune infiltration status and the survival outcome for patients with uveal melanoma (UM).

Methods: Based on 80 UM samples from the Cancer Genome Atlas, the transcriptome gene expression and clinical characteristics were analyzed to identify immune-related genes that contributed most to prognosis based on LASSO Cox regression. By combining the gene expression level with the corresponding regression coefficient, a risk score was calculated and all patients were divided into high- and low-risk groups.

Article Synopsis
  • - The meta-analysis aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of two methods for treating osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures: unilateral curved and bilateral straight percutaneous vertebral augmentation (PVA).
  • - The researchers reviewed studies from several databases, ultimately analyzing three randomized-controlled trials and one retrospective study that met their criteria.
  • - Results indicated that unilateral curved PVA reduces operative time, the volume of injected bone cement, the leakage rate of bone cement, and X-ray frequency compared to bilateral straight PVA, but both methods showed similar outcomes in terms of pain and clinical scores, highlighting the need for more high-quality research.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of two methods of administering tranexamic acid (TXA) during total knee arthroplasty (TKA): peri-articular injection (PAI) and intra-articular injection (IAI).
  • - A total of six studies involving 491 patients were analyzed, with no significant differences found between the PAI and IAI groups in terms of hemoglobin levels, blood loss, or complications like infections and blood clots.
  • - The conclusion suggests that using PAI of TXA is just as effective as utilizing IAI in reducing blood loss after knee surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • * Seven relevant studies were analyzed, revealing significant benefits of FNS in terms of blood loss, healing time, and complication rates, although there were no major differences in surgery duration or hospital stay between the two methods.
  • * The conclusion suggests that FNS is more effective and has fewer complications than CCSs; however, the authors call for more high-quality research to strengthen these findings.

Objective: To compare the biomechanical properties of percutaneous cement discoplasty (PCD) in the spinal column between different implant-endplate friction.

Methods: A validated L3-Scarumfinite element (FE) model was modified for simulation. In the PCD model, the L4/5 level was modified based on model 1 (M1) and model 2 (M2).

Purpose: Bone metastasis in breast cancer remains globally concerned. Accurate survival estimation would be beneficial for clinical decision-making, especially for the patients with potential indications of surgery. Based on a retrospective cohort from China, the study aimed to construct a prognostic prediction nomogram for breast cancer patients with bone metastasis.

Purpose: To explore the trends of plasma drug concentration changes after high-dose methotrexate (MTX) treatment of osteosarcoma (OS), analyse the risk factors for leukopenia (LP) after MTX treatment, and establish a LP prediction nomogram.

Methods: A total of 35 OS patients at Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital between 2017 and 2021 were collected (the construction cohort). Another 12 OS patients between 2019 and 2021 in P.

Objective: Based on a large public cohort, we aimed to investigate the prevalence of distant metastases in patients with osteosarcoma, to evaluate the survival of patients with different metastases and to reveal the related risk and prognostic factors for distant metastases.

Methods: The information of osteosarcoma patients with or without distant metastases was retrospectively extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Result database from January 2010 to December 2015. Patients were excluded if they were diagnosed at autopsy or via death certification.

Based on the one of the largest hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) population with bone metastasis (BM) from the single center in Tianjin, China, the present study aimed to investigate the risk and survival of synchronous bone metastasis (sBM) and metachronous bone metastasis (mBM) in HCC, and to reveal characteristics and related factors of HCC patients with bone metastasis. HCC patients with bone metastasis between 2009 and 2017 from Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital, Tianjin, China, were involved. Chi-square test/ Fisher's exact test and Logistic regression were used to estimate the risk factors of bone metastasis in HCC.

This study aims to assess the sex disparities in clinical characteristics and synchronous distant metastasis occurrence at diagnosis, as well as the subsequent prognosis in non-sex-specific cancers. The study included details from patients diagnosed with non-sex-specific cancers, during the period from 2010 to 2016, in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program. The distant metastasis prevalence and subsequent survival time were summarized in the total population and the population with specific cancers of different systems.

This study aimed to develop a model that fused multiple features (multi-feature fusion model) for predicting metachronous distant metastasis (DM) in breast cancer (BC) based on clinicopathological characteristics and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A nomogram based on clinicopathological features (clinicopathological-feature model) and a nomogram based on the multi-feature fusion model were constructed based on BC patients with DM (n=67) and matched patients (n=134) without DM. DM was diagnosed on average (17.
