The authors report a case of a large penile skin and urethral defect repair using a scrotal myocutaneous flap. The modalities, advantages and defects of the method were detailed. This technique permitted to obtain a very satisfactory result.

The authors report different techniques for surgical reconstruction of the sequelae of penile, scrotal and perineal gangrene. The repair of skin defects and the reconstruction of the scrotum requested several interventions. Where the scrotal skin loss was limited to a 1/2 of scrotum, the testis could be covered by mobilising the surrounding rim.

Diagnosis was established after an average of 7.4 days following onset of signs, although the clinical picture was obvious and the lesions extended beyond the perineum towards the genital organs, buttocks or thigh.

These flaps were performed at the Aziza Othmana hospital in Tunis for various indications, predominantly for traumatic skin defects of the hand and sequelae of burns. This study evaluated the quality of this auto-plasty, its vascular reliability, its simplicity and the large area of skin cover available.
