In the sulfotransferase (SULT) superfamily, members of the SULT1 family mainly catalyse the sulfonation reaction of phenolic compounds, which is involved in the phase II metabolic detoxification process and plays a key role in endocrine homeostasis. A coding variant rs1059491 in the SULT1A2 gene has been reported to be associated with childhood obesity. This study aimed to investigate the association of rs1059491 with the risk of obesity and cardiometabolic abnormalities in adults.

COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy between family decision-makers and non-decision-makers among college teachers.

Background: Teachers with high educational levels significantly impact the health-related knowledge and attitudes of young students and their family members. This study aimed to investigate the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine hesitancy and associated factors, and compare the differences between decision-makers and non-decision-makers among college teachers.

Objectives: Concerns about the safety of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccine have been a stumbling block in the promotion of vaccination uptake. Although many studies have focused on the investigation of people's intention to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, little attention has been paid to the underlying mechanism. This study explored whether concerns about the adverse reactions to the vaccine mediated the relationship between attitudes toward the effectiveness of the vaccine and proactively taking the vaccine for family.

Sex Differences in Adverse Reactions to an Inactivated SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine Among Medical Staff in China.

We investigated whether there were sex differences in adverse reactions to an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine among medical staff in China. From 24 February to 7 March 2021 an online cross-sectional survey was conducted with a self-administered COVID-19 vaccine questionnaire among medical staff in Taizhou, China. In total, 1397 interviewees (1,107 women and 290 men) participated in the survey.

Safety of an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine among healthcare workers in China.

: Although the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (CoronaVac) has undergone preclinical tests and clinical trials evaluating its efficacy and safety, few data have been reported in the post-licensure real-world setting. We aimed to assess the safety of the vaccine among healthcare workers.: A self-administered online survey on monitoring adverse reactions post vaccination was conducted among the staff who worked at and were vaccinated in a tertiary hospital in Taizhou, China, from February 24 to 7 March 2021.

Impact of social capital on tone ambiguity in banks' 10-K filings.

We examine whether the social capital index of the county where the bank is headquartered is associated with the ambiguity of tone measures constructed from the textual analysis of banks' 10-K filings. We hypothesize and find that banks located in high social capital areas exhibit lower ambiguous tone in their 10-K filings. Furthermore, the impact of social capital on management's 10-K disclosure for banks located in high social capital areas is not mitigated during recessionary periods when management may have more unfavorable news to report.
