Objective: The epidemiology of invasive non-typhoidal (iNTS) in the Philippines is not well elaborated. The present study describes the serotype distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of iNTS in the Philippines from 2014 to 2018.

Methods: Invasive NTS isolates were collected through the Department of Health's Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Program (ARSP).

Feasibility and efficacy of the Vojta therapy in subacromial impingement syndrome: a randomized controlled trial.

Subacromial impingement syndrome (IS) is a common disorder associated with functional impairment and disability of the shoulder. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of Vojta therapy (VT) techniques compared with standard therapy (ST) in patients with subacromial IS. A randomized controlled trial was performed, with 60 patients with IS (mean age, 61±12 years) randomized into two groups: ST (n=30) and ST plus Vojta therapy (SVT, n=30).

A (Deleuzian) posthumanist paradigm for tourism research.

Posthumanistic inquiry is young and offers new ways to understand critical and ethical relationships, bringing new axiological perspectives to current debates around travel, mobilities and (post)modernist conceptualizations of tourism. This research note introduces a Deleuzian posthumanism paradigm with ontological, epistemological and methodological directions to approach tourism research from a non-dualist perspective. French philosopher Gilles Deleuze offers a postdualist, process-oriented ontology of difference that is vital to create radical new tourism knowledge, and avoid indefensible 'either-or' binaries in research and praxis.

Diabetic kidney disease: Is there a non-albuminuric phenotype in type 2 diabetic patients?

Background: Albuminuria was widely considered as the first clinical sign of diabetic kidney disease (DKD), which is why it has traditionally been used as a screening test for DKD. However, increasing evidence has shown that a significant number of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) patients have a decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR) without significant albuminuria, known as non-albuminuric DKD (NA-DKD). The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and the demographic and clinical characteristics of patients with NA-DKD.

[Coarctation of the abdominal aorta. Treatment by stent placement].

We report a nine-year-old boy referred for evaluation of suspected coarctation of the aorta. He presented with hypertension and absent femoral pulses. A 50 mmHg gradient was detected in the abdominal aorta by color flow doppler echocardiography but the level of coarctation was impossible to locate.

Introduction: In the last few years, important progress has taken place in management of congenital heart disease. These changes have had an influence on diagnosis, preoperative management, surgery treatment and postoperative care, giving rise to better results in the treatment of children suffering from congenital heart disease.

Aim: To assess the results of congenital heart diseases in a reference hospital by comparing two periods with reference to both diagnosis and therapeutical management.
