Background: The process of assessing and allocating nursing staff, as well as evaluating performance, relies heavily on nursing workload, which is strongly associated with patient safety outcomes. Nevertheless, most previous studies have utilized cross-sectional data collection methods, which limit the precision of workload prediction. Static workload models do not incorporate longitudinal changes in influential factors, potentially resulting in delayed or erroneous nursing management decisions and ultimately causing imbalances in nurses' workload.

Background: Fei-Yan-Qing-Hua decoction (FYQHD) is derived from the well-known Ma Xing Shi Gan decoction, which was documented in Zhang Zhong Jing's "Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Disease" during the Han Dynasty. Although FYQHD has been used in the treatment of pneumonia and has demonstrated clinical efficacy for decades, the underlying mechanism by which FYQHD protects against influenza virus infection through modulation of gut flora remains unclear. Here, we examined the regulatory impacts of FYQHD on an influenza virus-infected mouse model and explored the mechanisms involved.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the feasibility and effects of transcutaneous electrical acupuncture stimulation (TEAS) on elderly patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) compared to a control group receiving health education.
  • Out of 61 participants, the TEAS group showed significant improvements in cognitive function and mental quality of life, as measured by various assessment scales, while sleep quality and physical health showed no significant change.
  • The study results indicate that TEAS is an acceptable and feasible intervention that can lead to enhancements in cognitive functions and mental well-being for individuals with aMCI.

  • The Tan-Re-Qing Capsule (TRQC) is a traditional Chinese medicine used to treat acute lung injury (ALI) and COVID-19-related issues, and this study investigates its effects on LPS-induced ALI in mice.
  • Results showed that TRQC significantly reduced inflammation and injury in ALI models by targeting inflammation-related signaling pathways like NF-κB and MAPK.
  • The study suggests that TRQC may be a promising treatment for inflammatory lung diseases, highlighting its potential to inhibit harmful inflammatory responses and assist in healing.

Article Synopsis
  • A nomogram model was developed to predict acute lung injury (ALI) in sepsis patients using healthcare records from 193 hospitalized individuals.
  • Important predictive factors included the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), oxygenation index (PaO/FiO), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and APACHE II scores, resulting in high accuracy and strong performance metrics.
  • The model's predictions aligned well with actual outcomes, indicating its potential as a useful clinical tool for identifying patients at higher risk for ALI.

The anatomy of the brain supports inherent processes, fostering mental abilities and eventually facilitating adaptive behavior. Recent studies have shown that progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is accompanied by alterations in functional and structural networks. However, how the structure and function of PSP coordinates change is not clear, and the relationships between structural‒functional coupling (SFC) and the gradient of hierarchical structure and cellular histology remain largely unknown.

(1) Background: Diet plays an important role in the development of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). There are a number of methods available to assess the diets of patients with IBD, including nutrients, dietary patterns, and various appraisal tools of diet quality. However, research on diet quality and dietary patterns in IBD populations is limited, and comparative evaluations of dietary intake in patients with IBD have not been performed.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Fei-Yan-Qing-Hua decoction (FYQHD) is an empirical formula that has shown clinical success in treating community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) for two decades. Influenza viral infection is a significant trigger for severe pneumonia, yet the role of FYQHD in treating influenza remains unclear.

Aim Of The Study: This study aimed to assess the potential efficacy of FYQHD in treating influenza viral infection and to elucidate its underlying mechanisms.

Background: Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) can cause structural and functional brain reconstruction. There is a lack of knowledge about the consistency between structural-functional (S-F) connection networks in PSP, despite growing evidence of anomalies in various single brain network parameters.

Purpose: To study the changes in the structural and functional networks of PSP, network's topological properties including degree, and the consistency of S-F coupling.

Objective: The mental health issues of individuals with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are currently widespread. Traditional Chinese exercise (Daoyin) plays an important role in relieving patients' psychological problems. This study aims to assess the efficacy of Daoyin in mitigating mental health issues among individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.

Background: As health education robots may potentially become a significant support force in nursing practice in the future, it is imperative to adhere to the European Union's concept of "Responsible Research and Innovation" (RRI) and deeply reflect on the ethical risks hidden in the process of intelligent robotic health education.

Aim: This study explores the perceptions of professional nursing professionals regarding the potential ethical risks associated with the clinical practice of intelligent robotic health education.

Research Design: This study adopts a descriptive phenomenological approach, employing Colaizzi's seven-step method for data analysis.

Background: Social participation of older adults is a crucial component of China's aged care services and an important strategy for actively addressing the aging population. Analyzing policy texts on older people's social participation can inform future policy formulation and the development of relevant programs.

Objectives: This study aims to quantitatively analyze the transformation of China's social participation policies for older people from 1999 to 2023, employing institutional network analysis and policy text analysis.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent cancer treatment strategies have shown improved efficacy but also lead to complex adverse effects, as evidenced by a case involving a 67-year-old male with gastric stump carcinoma.
  • The patient experienced severe symptoms including chills, high fever, and shock following treatment with a combination of chemotherapy and a PD-1 inhibitor, initially misdiagnosed as immune-related adverse events or a bacterial infection.
  • Ultimately, it was determined that a rare hypersensitivity reaction to oxaliplatin was the real cause of the patient's severe organ damage, highlighting the challenges in accurately diagnosing adverse events related to cancer treatments.

Background: It has been demonstrated that progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) correlates with structural abnormalities in several distinct regions of the brain. However, whether there are changes in the morphological similarity network (MSN) and the relationship between changes in brain structure and gene expression remain largely unknown.

Methods: We used two independent cohorts (discovery dataset: PSP: 51, healthy controls (HC): 82; replication dataset: PSP: 53, HC: 55) for MSN analysis and comparing the longitudinal changes in the MSN of PSP.

Background: The clinical symptoms of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) may be mediated by aberrant dynamic functional network connectivity (dFNC). While earlier research has found altered functional network connections in PSP patients, the majority of those studies have concentrated on static functional connectivity. Nevertheless, in this study, we sought to evaluate the modifications in dynamic characteristics and establish the correlation between these disease-related changes and clinical variables.
