Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to address peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter malfunction, primarily caused by catheter tip migration, by exploring a modified implantation technique with a lower insertion site.
  • - Researchers compared two groups of patients (39 using the traditional low-site approach and 37 using a very-low-site approach) over a two-year follow-up, monitoring catheter functionality and complications.
  • - Results indicated a higher survival rate for the very-low-site group (75.68%) compared to the low-site group (48.72%), with no reported tip migration in the very-low-site group versus 15.38% in the low-site group, suggesting the modified technique may be more effective.

Objective: Bone marrow stromal cells (bMSCs) of rabbits transferred with mammalian hBMP-4 expression plasmid were used to construct tissue-engineered bone. Gene therapy combined with tissue-engineering technique was explored to further improve osteogenesis.

Methods: pEGFP-hBMP-4 plasmid was constructed by subcloning technique.
