Article Synopsis
  • This study aimed to assess the short-term effectiveness of two types of plastic mulch for controlling snail populations in Yunnan Province’s irrigation and drainage ditches.
  • Four groups were formed: colorless plastic mulch, black plastic mulch, and both types with added molluscicide. Snail mortality rates were measured at various intervals post-application, along with soil temperature data.
  • Results showed colorless mulch had a higher snail mortality rate than black mulch, but neither was very effective alone; adding molluscicide significantly improved effectiveness, suggesting that using just plastic mulch is inadequate for snail control in this region.
