Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents the third most prevalent form of cancer worldwide, with liver metastasis representing a significant contributor to mortality. The interaction between tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and tumor cells plays a pivotal role in the development of colorectal cancer liver metastases (CRLM) and represents a promising avenue for therapeutic intervention. Stachydrine (STA), a compound derived from the Leonurus heterophyllus plant, has been shown to effectively inhibit tumor growth through a range of mechanisms.

Metal halide perovskites have garnered significant attention due to their vast potential in various optoelectronic applications. While their tunable bandgap properties allow for light absorption across the ultraviolet and much of the visible spectrum, the coverage in the near-infrared (NIR) region remains limited. Here, we demonstrate a heterovalent co-doping method for synthesizing Ag and Bi doped CsSnBr crystals with absorption edge up to 1300 nm, making it one of the narrowest bandgap perovskite materials.

The integration of the second material with unique properties into original material to fabricate heterostructure represents an effective strategy to enhance photocatalytic H evolution. Herein, we synthesized a MoS/ZnInS heterostructured photocatalyst using a two-step hydrothermal method. The resulting MoS/ZnInS displayed the flower-like morphology formed by staked nanosheets, significantly accelerating photocatalytic H evolution performance.

Background: It is well-known that Dendritic cells (DCs) are essential in the development of airway Th2 polarization and airway allergy (AA). The underlying mechanism is still not fully understood. The objective of this study is to examine the role of methyltransferase-like protein-5 (Mettl5), a methyltransferase involved in N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation, in altering DC's properties to facilitate the development of Th2 polarization and AA.

Thickness-controllable perovskite single crystal films exhibit tremendous potential for various optoelectronic applications due to their capacity to leverage the relationship between diffusion length and absorption depth. However, the fabrication processes have suffered from difficulties in large-area production and poor quality with abundant surface defects. While post-treatments, such as passivation and polishing, can provide partial improvement in surface quality, the fundamental solution lies in the direct growth of high-quality single crystal films.

Background: Shenmai injection (SMI), a traditional Chinese medicine formulation derived from the herbal decoction Shenmai Yin, is widely used in treating cardiovascular disorders. This study extensively investigated the effects and mechanisms of action of SMI on lipid metabolism in post-myocardial infarction heart failure (pMIHF).

Methods: Network pharmacology was employed to predict the key targets and associated pathways involved in lipid metabolism for potential SMI treatments in post-myocardial infarction heart failure (pMIHF).

Spatial transcriptomics (ST) technologies have emerged as an effective tool to identify the spatial architecture of tissues, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of organ function and the tissue microenvironment. Spatial domain identification is the first and most critical step in ST data analysis, which requires thoughtful utilization of tissue microenvironment and morphological priors. Here, we propose a graph contrastive learning framework, GRAS4T, which combines contrastive learning and a subspace analysis model to accurately distinguish different spatial domains by capturing the tissue microenvironment through self-expressiveness of spots within the same domain.

In the context of oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the construction of high-valence transition metal sites to trigger the lattice oxygen oxidation mechanism is considered crucial for overcoming the performance limitations of traditional adsorbate evolution mechanism. However, the dynamic evolution of lattice oxygen during the reaction poses significant challenges for the stability of high-valence metal sites, particularly in high-current-density water-splitting systems. Here, we have successfully constructed Co-O-Fe catalytic active motifs in cobalt-iron Prussian blue analogs (CoFe-PBA) through oxygen plasma bombardment, effectively activating lattice oxygen reactivity while sustaining robust stability.

Context: Ultrasound (US) is the most economical and widely used method for detecting lesions in parathyroid regions. Identifying typically parathyroid adenomas as hypoechoic nodules with clear margins. However, 10 % of lesions exhibit atypical features, such as the dual concentric sign, and the cognition of them still needs to be improved.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the relationship between telomerase, an immune-regulating enzyme, and Th2 cell polarization in patients with allergic rhinitis (AR).
  • Researchers analyzed CD4 T cells from AR patients and healthy controls, discovering that high telomerase gene activity correlated with increased Th2 cell polarization.
  • The findings suggest that telomerase facilitates Th2 cell polarization by degrading Foxp3 proteins and can be inhibited to reduce symptoms of AR in experimental models.

  • The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of color Doppler ultrasound and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in detecting vascular invasion in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) among 210 patients.
  • Results showed that while color Doppler ultrasound was superior for assessing venous invasion in certain cases, CEUS demonstrated higher accuracy for evaluating peripancreatic arteries.
  • Combining both ultrasound techniques could potentially enhance the diagnosis of vascular invasion in PDAC, especially after chemotherapy.

  • Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a serious condition related to liver disease that involves neuroinflammation, and treatments with rifaximin (RIF) and lactulose (LAC) have shown effectiveness.
  • A study using chronic HE rat models tested the effects of RIF and/or LAC on neuroinflammation through imaging and behavioral assessments, while analyzing physiological changes post-treatment.
  • Results indicated that RIF and LAC improved behavior similar to healthy control rats, but did not reverse liver damage; treatment reduced certain inflammatory markers and showed significant differences in brain neuroinflammation imaging among various treatment groups.

  • Metal halide materials are gaining attention for their great optical and electronic properties, but their rigid structures make them brittle and difficult to manufacture.
  • This study introduces a hybrid lead halide material made by combining lead bromide with tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO), allowing the creation of monodispersed clusters through a simple dissolution process.
  • The resulting material can be easily molded or printed at near-room temperature, leading to potential applications such as fluorescent writing inks that can self-heal from damage.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs-exacerbated respiratory disease (N-ERD) is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by eosinophilic inflammation, featuring chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), asthma, and intolerance to cyclooxygenase 1 (COX-1) inhibitors. The use of these medications can lead to an acute worsening of rhinitis and asthma symptoms. This condition has not yet received sufficient attention in China, with a high rate of misdiagnosis and a lack of related research.

Article Synopsis
  • Macrophage polarization plays a significant role in ulcerative colitis (UC), and quercetin, a flavonoid, is being studied for its potential as a treatment, although its specific mechanisms are still unclear.
  • This study tested whether quercetin can influence macrophage polarization and aid in tissue repair in UC using a mouse model with DSS-induced UC, where mice received quercetin injections for a week.
  • The results showed that quercetin counteracted the inflammatory effects caused by interferon-stimulated DNA (ISD) by suppressing the cGAS-STING pathway, which decreased harmful M1 macrophage polarization, promoted beneficial M2 polarization, and helped repair the intestinal barrier.
