The materials tribology community has identified that the transfer film attached to the surface of the counterpart metal during the friction process is not only closely related to the filler modification material but also a key factor affecting the tribological properties of polymer composites; however, there is a lack of feasible methods to quantify the characteristics of the transfer film. In this study, Nano-ZrO and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) were filled into a PTFE matrix in order to enhance the wear resistance of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The tribological properties of the modified PTFE composites were tested using a linear reciprocating friction and wear tester, and the entire friction experiment was designed in seven separate stages.

In this paper, the tribological properties of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composites filled with Nano-ZrO and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) particles were tested for sliding friction against a counterpart metal (ASTM 1045 steel) using a linear reciprocating friction and wear experimental machine. Data on tribological performance and optical images of the transfer film were obtained at various friction stages for the material. We design and synthesize a set of homologous organic molecules by taking advantage of facile and tailorable Suzuki cross coupling reactions to produce triarylbenzene derivatives. By adjusting the number and the arrangement of conjugated rings, the identity of heteroatoms, lengths of fluorinated alkyl chains, and other interaction parameters, we create a library of glassformers with a wide range of properties. Ultraviolet induced nanoparticle colloid jet machining is a new ultra-precision machining technology utilizing the reaction between nanoparticles and the surface of the workpiece to achieve sub-nanometer ultra-smooth surface manufacturing without damage. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl)/hypochlorite (OCl), important reactive oxygen species, play essential roles in many physiological and pathological progresses. Accordingly, we developed a novel dicyanomethylene-4H-pyran (DCM)-based probe DCM-OCl for colorimetric and near-infrared fluorescent turn-on detection of OCl. The probe exhibited excellent selectivity and sensitivity for OCl over other bio-related analytes with a detection limit of 80 nM.

β-Galactosidase (β-gal) is an important biomarker for primary ovarian cancers and cell senescence; however, a fast response fluorescent probe for ratiometric monitoring is still rare. A novel, ratiometric water-soluble fluorescent probe (FLM) for β-gal was developed. The emission ratio F/F reached the maxima at about 5 min and can be used for real-time detection of β-gal; the ratio gained an ultimate enhancement of about 260-fold.

In this study, we evaluate the effect of co-doping with TiO2 nanoparticles and sisal cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) on the physical and biological properties of a conventional glass-ionomer cement (GIC). A Palladium-catalyzed α-arylation of sulfonamides with aryl chlorides is presented. A Buchwald type precatalyst formed with Kwong's indole-based ligand enabled this transformation to be compatible with a large variety of methyl sulfonamides and aryl chlorides in good to excellent yields. Importantly, under the optimized reaction conditions, only mono-arylated products were observed.
