Objective: Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis and adenitis (PFAPA) syndrome and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) are autoinflammatory disorders typically characterized by recurrent fever attacks. These recurrent fever attacks can lead to depression and anxiety in mothers of these patients. This study aimed to compare the depression and anxiety levels in mothers of PFAPA and FMF patients.

Background: The gut microbiota modulates nervous system function. In the literature, it has been shown that this modula-tion is used in many nervous system injuries through oxidative stress (OS) and apoptosis mechanisms. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the neuroprotective effects of probiotic (PB) treatment in a rat traumatic brain injury (TBI) model with histological and electroencephalographic (EEG) data.

Background: A collaboration between the University of Michigan (UM) Cystic Fibrosis Center (CFC) and Marmara University (MU) CFC was initiated in MU through conducting Quality Improvement projects (QIP). The global aim was to improve nutritional status of children with CF (cwCF), with a specific aim to increase the mean BMI percentile (BMIp) for cwCF by 10 percentile points in 12 months.

Methods: Body mass index (BMI) percentiles of cwCF were categorized as: nutritionally adequate (BMIp ≥ 50%); at risk (BMIp 25%-49%); urgently at risk (BMIp 10%-25%); critically at risk (BMIp < 10%).

A bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is one of the most congenital anomalies of the heart in adults. It is also associated with a higher-than-expected incidence of coronary artery anomalies. We present a rare case of congenital BAV associated with anomalous origin of the left main coronary artery (LMCA) from the posterior left coronary sinus of Valsalva in young symptomatic athlete.

Early Life Stress (ELS) can critically influence brain development and future stress responses and thus represents an important risk factor for mental health and disease. Neuropeptide Y (NPY) is discussed to be a key mediator of resilient vs. vulnerable adaptations and specifically, the NPY-Y2 receptor (Y2R) may be involved in the pathophysiology of depression due to its negative regulation of NPY-release.

To address the discrepancy in the quality of care and outcomes between cystic fibrosis centers (CFCs) in high-income countries and limited resources countries (LRCs), a collaboration between our team at the University of Michigan CFC (UMCFC) and a CF center in Turkey (Marmara University CFC [MUCFC], Istanbul) was established. The collaboration included evaluation of all aspects of care and initiation of quality improvement (QI) measures. Teaching and implementing QI tools has led to start of improvement in MUCFC care.

Purpose: Many countries are struggling with the covid-19 pandemic. Although many measures have been adopted to reduce the transmission of the virus, vaccination is the only solution for controlling and ending the pandemic. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the awareness of covid-19 and attitudes toward covid-19 vaccination in parents.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection on choroidal thickness (CT), retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, and ganglion cell (GCL+IPL) complex thickness in childhood cases of gastritis.

Methods: A total of 104 eyes of 52 children were included in the study.

Student opinions are important to improve the physiotherapy and rehabilitation curriculum, and to maintain the quality of education. This study aimed to evaluate the students' perception levels related to anatomy education in terms of electrotherapy lectures. Third and fourth-year physiotherapy students (61 female, 43 male) have voluntarily participated in this study.

Purpose: The study aimed to compare choroidal thicknesses (CTh) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and patients at risk of coronary artery disease and investigate whether thinning of the choroid can be used as a biomarker for development of coronary artery disease in patients at risk.

Materials And Methods: The study group was composed of 103 eyes of 53 patients with coronary artery disease, and the control group was composed of 62 eyes of 32 patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension and/or hyperlipidemia without coronary artery disease. CAD was diagnosed in patients with one of the following: myocardial infarction with/without ST segment elevation, clinically proven history of cardiac catheterization testifying greater than 50% obstruction in at least one coronary artery, revascularization operations.

Purpose: To compare macular layer thicknesses between early glaucoma, ocular hypertension, and healthy eyes and to evaluate the accuracy of spectralis optical coherence tomography (OCT) segmentation software in discriminating early glaucoma from ocular hypertension and healthy eyes.

Methods: OCT scans were performed using the standard macular and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) protocols on the Spectralis-OCT. The following macular thickness parameters were compared in the inner and outer circles of the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study: total macular thickness (MT), retinal nerve fiber layer (mRNFL), ganglion cell layer (mGCL), inner plexiform layer (mIPL), inner nuclear layer (mINL), outer plexiform layer (mOPL), outer nuclear layer (mONL) and ganglion cell complex (mGCC: sum of mRNFL, mGCL, and mIPL).

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) has an important role in hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R)-induced intestinal damage. It was shown that blocking TNF-α with infliximab has beneficial effects on experimental necrotizing enterocolitis and hypoxic intestinal injury. However, there is no data about the effect of adalimumab on H/R-induced intestinal damage.

Purpose: To investigate the impact of oral isotretinoin therapy in choroidal thickness, central macular thickness (CMT), and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) thickness using optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Patients And Methods: Choroidal thicknesses, CMT, and RNFL thickness of 64 eyes were evaluated at baseline and the end of the third month of isotretinoin therapy by spectral-domain OCT. For assessment of choroidal thickness, OCT measurements were obtained at the fovea with 6 additional measurements at adjacent locations (at 500-1000-1500 µm temporal to the fovea and 500-1000-1500 µm nasal to the fovea).

Introduction: Cardiotocography (CTG) consists of two biophysical signals that are fetal heart rate (FHR) and uterine contraction (UC). In this research area, the computerized systems are usually utilized to provide more objective and repeatable results.

Materials And Methods: Feature selection algorithms are of great importance regarding the computerized systems to not only reduce the dimension of feature set but also to reveal the most relevant features without losing too much information.

Purpose: To evaluate long-term corneal morphological changes after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) using in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) and specular microscopy.

Methods: This comparative case-control study included 16 eyes of 8 patients who underwent PRK for mild to moderate myopia 20 years ago and 30 eyes of 15 sex- and age-matched healthy controls. Corneal epithelial cells, sub-basal nerves, keratocytes (anterior, midstromal, and posterior), and endothelial cells were evaluated in both groups 10 and 20 years after surgery.
