Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between plateletcrit (PCT) and stages of hypertensive disease of pregnancy by comparing values in groups with healthy pregnancies, gestational hypertension [GHT], preeclampsia with proteinuria [PE + P] and severe preeclampsia with proteinuria [sPE + P]. The secondary aim was to investigate how proteinuria affects PCT values in these patients.

Materials And Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined blood endometase levels in 90 pregnant women (30 with preeclampsia, 30 with gestational hypertension, and 30 healthy) to assess their potential role in diagnosing hypertensive pregnancy disorders.
  • - Results showed that while there was no significant difference in endometase levels among the groups, corrected endometase (cEndo) values were significantly lower in the PE and gestational hypertension groups compared to healthy women.
  • - A negative relationship was found between cEndo values and blood pressure, suggesting cEndo might help differentiate hypertensive disorders from healthy pregnancies, but it couldn't distinguish between PE and gestational hypertension, indicating the need for larger studies.

This study aimed to detect the biocompatibility of bioactivated polycaprolactone/silk fibroin-based nanofibers in vivo using zebrafish embryos. Anti-Bisphenol A (BPA) antibody or lactase enzyme was immobilized on electrospun nanofibers, for making the nanofiber bioactive. Lactase immobilized nanofiber was developed to hydrolyze lactose and produce milk with reduced lactose.

Background: In polypectomy with mechanical hysteroscopic morcellators, the tissue removal procedure continues until no polyp tissue remains. The decision that the polypoid tissues were removed completely is made based on visual evaluation. In a situation where the polyp tissue was visually completely removed and no doubt that the polyp has been completely removed, short spindle-like tissue fragments on the polyp floor continue in most patients.

The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) score on the 10th day postpartum and the number of breastfeeding sessions per day among puerperal women (with no known depression risk factors and a low [<10] EPDS score after delivery). A total of 1,451 nulliparous, 37- to 41-week pregnant women who gave birth between August 2020 and August 2022 and who underwent routine postpartum checkups on the 10th day after delivery were included in this study. Pregnant women with risk factors for depression before pregnancy, during pregnancy, and after delivery were not included.

Purpose: 2D/Ultra HD and 3D/Full HD imaging systems can provide surgeons with more accurate and detailed views of the surgical site. We aimed to compare the effects of 2D/Ultra HD and 3D/Full HD laparoscopy systems on laparoscopic suturing skills during total laparoscopic hysterectomy.

Methods: In this prospective cohort study, patients were recruited from a tertiary hospital, and demographic data and surgical data were recorded.

Background: This study is primarily aimed to determine whether transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and interferential current (IFC) treatments have any effect on central sensitization (CS) in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) and to investigate which treatment is more effective.

Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, 80 patients were randomized into four treatment groups: TENS, Plasebo-TENS, IFC, and Plasebo-IFC. All interventions were applied 5 times a week for 2 weeks.

Methotrexate (MTX) is a cytotoxic immunosuppressant that is widely used in the treatment of tumours, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. This study aims to evaluate the effects of whey proteins on MTX-induced liver and kidney damage by focusing on oxidant–antioxidant systems and eating habits. The study was conducted in four groups of thirty Sprague–Dawley rats (control, control + whey protein concentrate (WPC), MTX, MTX + WPC).

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the impact of axillary nerve injury in patients who underwent deltoid splitting surgery for proximal humeral fractures and its effects on deltoid muscle volume and patient outcomes.
  • Twenty-five patients were monitored over a minimum of 24 months, including clinical evaluations and electromyoneurography (EMNG) assessments to gauge nerve function and muscle thickness.
  • Results showed that while there was initial nerve degeneration post-surgery, most patients experienced recovery by the 24-month mark, and muscle thickness was greater in patients with normal nerve function compared to those with ongoing issues.

Background: Intraoperative auditory brainstem response (ioABR) testing under general anesthesia is commonly performed on children when sleep-deprived ABR and behavioral testing are not reliable or feasible. Several studies have reported potential confounding results when tube insertion is combined with ABR testing.

Purpose: This article evaluates whether a temporary threshold shift (TTS) occurs following placement of tympanostomy tubes (TTs) in children who undergo ioABR testing.

Endometrial hyperplasia is a process of endometrial proliferation that results in a thickening of the endometrial tissue. Melatonin might be able to change the pathophysiological process and prognosis into a positive way that might prevent and heal endometrial hyperplasia, which is the first stage of endometrial cancer. For this perspective, we tried to investigate the effect of melatonin on uterine hypertrophy/hyperplasia in an experimental rat model.

Fibromyalgia (FM) is known a common painful syndrome and its frequency is increased in inflammatory rheumatic diseases. We aimed to assess FM frequency in axial spondyloarthritis (AxSpA) patients and age- and sex-matched healthy controls with the 2011 ACR FM criteria. We evaluated the association between receiving biologic disease-modifying antirheumatoid drugs (bDMARD) and presence of FM.

Background: Cancer constitutes a major hurdle worldwide and its treatment mainly relies on chemotherapy.

Objectives: The present study was designed to evaluate the cytotoxicity of eleven naturally occurring compounds including six phenolics amongst them were 4 chalcones and 2 flavanones as well as 5 terpenoids (3 clerodane and 2 trachylobane diterpenoids) against 6 human carcinoma cell lines and normal CRL2120 fibroblasts.

Materials And Methods: The neutral red uptake (NR) assay was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the compounds, whilst caspase-Glo assay was used to detect caspase activation.

Under certain conditions, detection thresholds in simultaneous masking improve when the onset of a short sinusoidal probe is delayed from the onset of a long masker. This improvement, known as the temporal effect, is largest for broadband maskers and is smaller or absent for narrowband maskers centered on the probe frequency. This study tests the hypothesis that small or absent temporal effects for narrowband maskers are due to the inherent temporal envelope fluctuations of Gaussian noise.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Complete epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) has long been considered as a crucial step for metastasis initiation. It has, however, become apparent that many carcinoma cells can metastasize without complete loss of epithelial traits or with incomplete gain of mesenchymal traits, i.
