A paediatric stroke is a rare entity that can occur at any age. It may be arterial or venous, ischemic or haemorrhagic, and may occur in the neonatal or paediatric stage of life, as well as in adolescence. Prompt diagnosis means that adequate treatment can be administered and prevents recurrence, minimising the percentage of sequelae.

A magnetohydrodynamic mechanism for the formation of solar polar vortices.

Polar vortices are ubiquitous features of planetary atmospheric flows, from the Earth-like rocky planets to Jupiter- and Saturn-like gas giant planets. Very little is known about their existence or dynamics on the Sun. What should be expected near the Sun's pole for the upcoming solar multi-viewpoint and polar missions? Here, we report the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) nonlinear simulations for the formation and evolution of solar polar vortices using a near-surface MHD shallow-water model.

Objective: Preterm infants are particularly exposed to severe cardio-respiratory events, associating apnea with bradycardia and oxygen desaturation. A patient-specific and event-specific model-based approach is proposed in this work to analyze the acute heart rate response to apnea-bradycardia events in preterm newborn.

Methods: A novel model integrating the main cardio-respiratory interactions which are specific to the neonatal period is proposed.

Application of CAD-CAM technology in the reconstruction of anterior teeth with implant restorations affected by growth changes in young adults: A clinical report.

Anterior implant-supported restorations can be challenging, but for a patient undergoing growth and development changes, clinical resolution becomes complex and demanding. To achieve successful outcomes, multidisciplinary dental therapy is required to manage esthetic consequences while maintaining a minimally invasive approach. This clinical report describes a comprehensive treatment protocol to address and treat growth and development complications for an implant-supported prosthesis.

Aims: To assess the association between sociodemographic and clinical factors with body mass index (BMI) in a population at risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in Bogotá and Barranquilla, Colombia.

Methods: This cross-sectional study used data from the PREDICOL Study. Participants with a FINDRISC ≥ 12 who underwent an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) were included in the study (n=1166).

A Bidirectional Non-Coding RNA Promoter Mediates Long-Range Gene Expression Regulation.

Recent evidence suggests that human gene promoters display gene expression regulatory mechanisms beyond the typical single gene local transcription modulation. In mammalian genomes, genes with an associated bidirectional promoter are abundant; bidirectional promoter architecture serves as a regulatory hub for a gene pair expression. However, it has been suggested that its contribution to transcriptional regulation might exceed local transcription initiation modulation.

Background: -regulatory elements (CREs) play crucial roles in regulating gene expression during erythroid cell differentiation. Parametric analysis of an integrated cardio-respiratory model in preterm newborns during apnea.

The analysis of the complex interactions involved in the acute physiological response to apnea-bradycardia events in preterm newborns remains a challenging task. This paper presents a novel integrated model of cardio-respiratory interactions, adapted to preterm newborns. A sensitivity analysis, based Morris' screening method, was applied to study the effects of physiological parameters on heart rate and desaturation, during the simulation of a 15-seconds apnea-bradycardia episode.

White Dot Syndromes: Report of Three Cases.

Introduction: The term white dot syndromes has been used to refer conditions that differ in their morphology and prognosis. We report three cases of different pathologies encompassed within the white dot syndromes.

[Natural history of mucopolysaccharidosis type III in a series of Colombian patients].

Introduction: Mucopolysaccharidosis type III (MPS III), also known as Sanfilippo syndrome, is a lysosomal storage disease with progressive neurodegenerative features, predominantly affecting the central nervous system. Diagnosis is based on clinical features, with neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric alterations taking precedence, including over phenotype alterations. The disease is confirmed by biochemical analysis to identify the type of glycosaminoglycans present, enzyme assay and molecular genetic studies.

[Hypertensive portal cholangiopathy due to portal cavernomatous transformation of non-cirrhotic origin: a case report].

Portal cholangiopathy refers to cholangiographic abnormalities occurring in patients with portal cavernomatosis, being progressive, presenting with symptomatic biliary disease and severe biliary tract abnormalities. And, it represents an infrequent complication of portal hypertension. We describe the case of a 53-year-old man with a long history of non-cirrhotic portal hypertension and portal cavernomatosis, who presented an episode of symptomatic obstructive biliary disease, and studies documented fibrotic tissue of ascending periportal extension with extrinsic compression of the distal common bile duct and dilatation of the extra and intrahepatic biliary tract.

Dynamics of the Tachocline.

The solar tachocline is an internal region of the Sun possessing strong radial and latitudinal shears straddling the base of the convective envelope. Based on helioseismic inversions, the tachocline is known to be thin (less than 5% of the solar radius). Since the first theory of the solar tachocline in 1992, this thinness has not ceased to puzzle solar physicists.

Fabrication of facially guided CAD-CAM complete dentures: A dental technique.

An alternative protocol is presented to design computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) complete dentures and overdentures using a facially guided digital design. The facially guided design protocol with CAD-CAM facilitated communication between the clinician and dental laboratory technician. A monolithic denture and overdenture were fabricated guided by preliminary dentures with 3-dimensionally (3D) printed denture bases and milled wax teeth.

Acetobacteraceae are one of the best known and most extensively studied groups of bacteria, which nowadays encompasses a variety of taxa that are very different from the vinegar-producing species defining the family. Our paper presents the most detailed phylogeny of all current taxa classified as , for which we propose a taxonomic revision. Several of such taxa inhabit some of the most extreme environments on the planet, from the deserts of Antarctica to the Sinai desert, as well as acidic niches in volcanic sites like the one we have been studying in Patagonia.

Simulations of Solar and Stellar Dynamos and Their Theoretical Interpretation.

We review the state of the art of three dimensional numerical simulations of solar and stellar dynamos. We summarize fundamental constraints of numerical modelling and the techniques to alleviate these restrictions. Brief summary of the relevant observations that the simulations seek to capture is given.

Background: Anxiety in university students can lead to poor academic performance and even dropout. The Adult Manifest Anxiety Scale (AMAS-C) is a validated measure designed to assess the level and nature of anxiety in college students.

Objective: The aim of this study is to provide internet-based alternatives to the AMAS-C in the automated identification and prediction of anxiety in young university students.

Side effects of different head and neck radiotherapy doses on wistar rat's behavior.

Radiotherapy (RT) is a common treatment for head and neck tumors. However, it causes several physical and behavioral side effects, and no study has assessed the emotional effects in rats.
