Disparities in autism research and practices based on race and ethnicity are evident across many outcomes and life course stages. However, most of the research has focused on outlining differences and not the underlying systemic inequities driving these disparities. In this conceptual paper, we aim to shift the focus by outlining mechanisms of structural racism within the institutions of science, healthcare, and residential segregation and educational systems in the United States (U.

This study aimed to characterize histological changes of the maternal-conceptus interface in feto-placental units associated with fetal weight and sex throughout pregnancy. Pregnant Large-White X Landrace gilts(n=18) were euthanized and hysterectomized on gestational days[GDs] 30(n=3), 45(n=5), 60(n=5), and 90(n=5). Intact cross-sections of fetoplacental interface associated with the lightest[LW] and normally-grown[NW] littermates were collected on GD30(n=4 per size).

The accelerated deterioration of roads is conditioned by parameters such as climate change, poor construction, and heavy vehicle traffic. Two relevant measures to monitor the condition of a road are the International Roughness Index (IRI) and the number of functional failures in a segment, mainly potholes, since they are associated with higher risks such as accidents or damage to vehicle mechanics. In the state of the art, pothole detection or International Roughness Index (IRI) calculation algorithms are proposed, but they use vehicles designed to produce less vibration and use phones that decrease the performance of the embedded sensors.

Psychosocial risks of workers in the plywood industry: A cross-sectional study in the Ecuadorian Amazon region.

This work assessed the psychosocial risks of 124 workers from the plywood industry in Ecuador's Amazon region. Two psychosocial risk assessment (PRA) methods were selected due to their widespread use in Ecuadorian organisations: FPSICO from the Spanish National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the "Psychosocial Risk Assessment Questionnaire" (PRAQ) from the Ecuadorian Labour Ministry. Therefore, two surveys of 89 and 58 items were applied to evaluate nine scales and eight risk dimensions for FPSICO and PRAQ, respectively.

Neurofibroma with glomus-like bodies: A novel association-Thoughts about origin.

A neurofibroma with focal glomus-like body differentiation is an unusual phenomenon recently encountered in an excision specimen from the right lateral distal forearm of a 26-year-old man. Glomus cells are modified smooth muscle cells normally present in glomus-like bodies but can also be found in glomus tumors (GT) or lesions considered in the spectrum of GT, including myopericytoma, myofibroma, and angiolipoma. Neurofibromas are peripheral nerve sheath tumors derived from the neural crest cells.

Risk Screening Tools Could Potentially Miss HIV-Positive Individuals Who Seek Testing Services: A Secondary Program Data Analysis on the Performance Characteristics of an Adolescent and Adult HIV Risk Screening Tool in Uganda.

Improving HIV testing efficiency saves financial and material resources for health. We conducted a secondary data analysis of routinely collected HIV risk-screening program data in Uganda, from October to November 2019, to determine the performance characteristics of the adolescent and adult HIV risk screening tools in public health facilities. A total of 19,854 clients had been screened for HIV testing eligibility and tested for HIV.

Great Britain's power system with a high penetration of renewable energy: Dataset supporting future scenarios.

The share of variable renewable energy (VRE) is forecasted to increase in the energy sector to meet decarbonization targets and/or reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. The modeling of future power system scenarios is crucial to assess the role of different flexibility options, including low-carbon technologies. The data presented here support the research article "The role of energy storage in Great Britain's future power system: focus on hydrogen and biomass".

A Mixed-methods Examination of Culturally Responsive Adaptation to an Evidence-based Parent-mediated Intervention Implemented for Autistic Children.

Parent-mediated interventions (PMIs) are considered an evidence-based practice for fostering social communication skills in young autistic children and for promoting parent responsivity and empowerment, yet barriers to caregiver engagement are evident when PMIs are implemented within historically underserved community settings. Issues of caregiver engagement can reflect a lack of fit between PMIs and the needs of diverse families. We used a mixed methods approach to examine barriers to participating in an evidence-based PMI, Project ImPACT (Ingersoll & Dvortcsak, 2019), within an outpatient setting, as well as strategies that clinicians reported using to deliver and adapt Project ImPACT for minoritized families.

Method: Qualitative approach, with an exploratory descriptive nature. Data collection was conducted through a closed questionnaire, with questions that refer to the self-care requirements and semi-structured interviews, both conducted in a virtual environment.

Partnering With Latino/a Caregivers and Community Stakeholders to Understand Priorities and Needs Prior to Implementing an Early Literacy Program.

Purpose: Latino/a children disproportionately experience academic vulnerabilities, including in reading. Caregiver-mediated interventions can be leveraged to support the bilingual language development of young Latino/a children to prevent these well-documented disparities in reading. However, in leveraging these programs, it is important to weigh Latino cultural values surrounding education, family connection, and learning alongside the barriers and inequities experienced by Latino families.

Evaluating the Efficiency of Magnetic Treatment for Feed Water in Reverse Osmosis Processes.

The paper presents a new methodology for short-term (5-25 min) benchtop tests to evaluate the effectiveness of magnetic treatment of feed water for reducing mineral scaling on a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane. Scale deposition is measured at a controlled level of salt supersaturation in water flowing through an RO unit in once-through mode. A magnetic water conditioner is tested in a transient flow regime when variations of the permeate flux along the flow path are insignificant.

Characterization of deconditioning-update on fear memory attenuation.

Fear memory expression can be attenuated by updating the footshock perception during the plastic state induced by retrieval, from a strong unconditioned stimulus to a very weak one through deconditioning. In this process, the original fear association of the conditioned stimulus with the footshock is substituted by an innocuous stimulus and the animals no longer express a fear response. In the present study, we explore the boundaries of this deconditioning-update strategy by the characterization of this phenomenon.

Parent-mediated interventions are an evidence-based practice for autism in which providers support caregivers in learning and applying strategies that support their child's development. Research has begun to study whether parent-mediated interventions can be effectively delivered in Part C Early Intervention systems. This research has been promising; however, it has been difficult to determine how Early Intervention providers deliver and adapt parent-mediated interventions to meet the needs of the families they serve.

Thirty BALB/c mice were randomly treated with phosphate buffered saline (PBS) (control) and two (Dh) doses: Dh 10ˆ6 CFU (colony forming units) and Dh 10ˆ8 CFU daily for 15 days. Spleen, blood, and gut samples were taken on days 7 and 15.
