Purpose: The standard follow-up for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer is based on cystoscopy. Unfortunately, post-instillation inflammatory changes can make the interpretation of this exam difficult, with lower specificity. This study aimed to evaluate the interest of bladder MRI in the follow-up of patients following intravesical instillation.

Aluminum alloys are used in advanced engineering applications as they possess a combination of favorable properties, including high strength, lightweightness, good corrosion resistance, machineability, and recyclability. Such applications often require forming the sheets into the final components, which is typically aided by an oil-based lubricant, followed by joining them using adhesives, which is hampered by residual lubricant. In this work, aluminum surfaces were modified with different self-assembled monolayers (SAMs), with the goal of significantly reducing the amount of lubricant while simultaneously improving friction properties, forming, and bonding performance.

Hybrid organic-inorganic bio-inspired apatite nanoparticles (NPs) are attractive for biomedical applications and especially in nanomedicine. Unfortunately, their applications in nanomedicine are limited by their broad particle size distributions and uncontrolled drug loading due to their multistep synthesis process.  Besides, very few attempts at exposing bioactive peptides on apatite NPs are made.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors deeply modified metastatic renal cell carcinoma's management, and confront us to adverse events that we were not used to with conventional anti-cancer therapies. We report the case of a patient who received nivolumab as second-line treatment of a metastatic clear cell renal cell carcinoma and who developed bullous pemphigoid four years after nivolumab introduction, with persistent exacerbations even after its discontinuation.

Case Presentation: A 66-year-old man was diagnosed with lung metastasis eight years after radical nephrectomy for a clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

Digestive metastases (DMs) from renal cell cancer (RCC) are rare. Over the past decade, the overall survival of metastatic RCC (mRCC) has been improved by tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) and immune checkpoint inhibitors. The main objective of this study was to assess the incidence of metastases of the digestive tract in this new field of treatment.

Unlabelled: The onset of brain metastases (BM) is a major turning point during advanced breast cancer (ABC) evolution, with only few treatment options when local therapies have failed. The therapeutic effect of eribulin, a wildly used drug in the treatment of ABC, remains unclear in this setting.

Patients And Methods: We performed a retrospective observational study to assess eribulin efficacy in patients with ABC who displayed BM at time of eribulin initiation.

Purpose: The landscape of the management of metastatic prostate cancer is changing rapidly and there is growing interest in the local treatment of the primary in these patients. The effect of local treatment on the outcome of metastatic prostate cancer patients was addressed based on retrospective analysis but now also based on prospective randomized trials. This article provides an overview of the currently available literature in this field.

Over the last few decades, improved knowledge of oncogenic activation mechanisms of HER2 protein has led to the development of HER2 targeted therapies that are currently commonly used in HER2-positive advanced breast cancer, such as trastuzumab, lapatinib, pertuzumab, and ado-trastuzumab emtansine. The management of this breast cancer subgroup has thus been revolutionized and its prognosis has changed dramatically. Nevertheless, HER2-positive advanced breast cancer remains an incurable disease and resistance to conventional anti-HER2 drugs is almost unavoidable.

Background: Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the urinary bladder (NCUB) is rare, accounting for < 1% of bladder cancer cases, with scarce reported data available.

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the data from patients with NCUB treated at French institutions. The objectives were to describe the patient characteristics, treatments received, and outcomes (ie, disease-free survival [DFS], progression-free survival, overall survival [OS]) and investigate the prognostic factors.

Renal cell carcinoma is the third most prevalent urological cancer worldwide and about 30% of patients present with metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis. Systemic treatments for metastatic renal cell carcinoma have improved recently. Vascular endothelial growth factor targeting therapies were the previous standard of care.

Introduction: treatments targeting the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2/ERBB2) have improved the natural history of HER2-positive breast cancer. However, except HER2 protein expression and gene amplification, there is no predictive biomarker to guide the HER2-targeted therapies. We developed Parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) a powerful approach, to quantify and evaluate key proteins involved in the HER2 pathway and/or anti-HER2 treatment sensitivity.

Background: Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin pathway is frequently activated in HER2-positive breast cancer and may play a major role in resistance to trastuzumab. Buparlisib is a pan-class-I PI3K inhibitor with potent and selective activity against wild-type and mutant PI3K p110 isoforms.

Patients And Methods: PIKHER2 phase IB study aimed primarily to determine a maximum tolerated dose (MTD) and propose a recommended phase II dose (RP2D) for buparlisib in combination with lapatinib in HER2-positive, trastuzumab-resistant, advanced breast cancer.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most common female cancer in the world and was recently deconstructed in different molecular entities. Although most of the recent assays to characterize tumors at the molecular level are genomic-based, proteins are the actual executors of cellular functions and represent the vast majority of targets for anticancer drugs. Accumulated data has demonstrated an important level of quantitative and qualitative discrepancies between genomic/transcriptomic alterations and their protein counterparts, mostly related to the large number of post-translational modifications.

The field of immunotherapy for solid tumors, such as prostate cancer, has been recently focusing on therapies that can counter tumor-mediated immunosuppression. Precise quantification and characterization of the immune infiltrates in tumors is crucial to improve treatment efficacy. Natural killer (NK) cells, major components of the antitumor immune system, have never been isolated from prostate tumors, despite their suspected role in disease progression.

Clinical outcome of patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPC) at diagnosis is heterogeneous and unpredictable; thus alternative treatments such as immunotherapy are investigated. We retrospectively analyzed natural killer (NK) cells by flow cytometry in peripheral blood from 39 mPC patients, with 5 year-follow-up, and their correlation with time to castration resistance (TCR) and overall survival (OS). In parallel, NK functionality was carried out against prostate tumor cell lines, analyzed for the expression of NK cell ligands, to identify the receptors involved in PC recognition.

HER2 (human epidermal growth factor receptor 2) is overexpressed in 15 to 20% of breast cancer. Anti-HER2 targeted therapies, notably trastuzumab, have transformed the natural history of this disease. Trastuzumab emtansine, consisting of trastuzumab coupled to a cytotoxic agent, emtansine (DM1), by a stable linker, has been approved in November 2013 by the European Medicine Agency.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors have dramatically improved the prognosis of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, it remains unknown whether treatment should be continued until progression or discontinued in patients with good response. We present the history of a woman diagnosed with RCC in 1997, who started sorafenib in 2004, two years after the occurrence of lung and mediastinal metastases.
