Background: This study aimed to compare the predictive performance of the BIG score (base deficit + [2.5 × international normalized ratio (INR)] + [15 - Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS)]) for in-hospital mortality in adult patients with multiple trauma against other scoring systems, including the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), Revised Trauma Score (RTS), and Injury Severity Score (ISS).
Methods: A retrospective single-center study was conducted, including 563 adults (aged ≥18 years) with multiple trauma who were admitted to the emergency department and hospitalized between January 2022 and December 2023.
Background: The role of NT-proBNP as a cardiac biomarker for predicting short-term major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains unclear.
Aims: This study investigated the utility of the NT-proBNP level for predicting MACEs within a 6-month period in patients with ACS.
Methods: This prospective study included 241 consecutively enrolled adults with ACS between September 2023 and February 2024.
Rapid quantification of plastic contaminants, particularly microplastics (MPs), in foods is a challenge. This study introduces a novel method using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy coupled with thermogravimetric (TGA-FTIR) and chemometric analysis for the quantification of MPs in foods. A model study was performed using polystyrene (PS) MPs (1 μm) added to various foods, namely, water, milk, and coffee without any pretreatment.

Methods: This prospective, randomized, single-blind study assigned patients to one of three study groups. The NIV group (n = 47) received bilevel positive airway pressure.
Background/objectives: Rhomboid intercostal block (RIB) is a new interfascial plane block. RIB is a simple and clinically effective technique. Paravertebral block (PVB) is offered as a first-line regional anesthesia technique for thoracoscopic surgeries.

Objectives: The BIG score (base deficit + [2.5 × international normalized ratio] + [15 - Glasgow Coma Score]) was compared with the Pediatric Trauma Score (PTS) for predicting mortality in pediatric patients with multiple trauma.
Methods: This retrospective, single-center study included 318 consecutive pediatric patients (aged 1-18 years) with multiple trauma who were admitted to the emergency department between January 1, 2021, and December 31, 2023.
Purpose: This study had two main goals: to determine which rhabdomyolysis patients need haemodialysis; and to highlight the significance of blood gas parameters, particularly base excess, as predictors of the need for haemodialysis.
Method: A total of 270 patients were included in this multicentre, retrospective study. Among the patients who were transferred in from the earthquake region and developed rhabdomyolysis, those with creatine kinase (CK) values >1000 U/L were included in our study.
Background: The nociception level (NOL) index is a quantitative parameter derived from physiological signals to measure intraoperative nociception. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate if NOL monitoring reduces intraoperative opioid use compared to conventional therapy (opioid administered at clinician discretion).
Methods: This meta-analysis comprises randomized clinical trials comparing NOL-guided opioid administration to conventional therapy in adult patients undergoing any type of surgery.
Objective: It has been determined that adropin has a role in tissue healing. This study aimed to determine the effects of head trauma on the tissues and blood levels of patients admitted to the emergency department.
Methods: The study group was divided into two to compare the adropin level in healthy individuals and patients with head trauma.

Objective: Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) has proven to be a successful treatment method for achalasia in both adult and pediatric patients. Yet, there is a lack of evidence for anaesthetic management of pediatric patients who underwent POEM procedure. In this study, we aim to present perioperative and postoperative management strategies for pediatric patients with achalasia from in anaesthesia aspect.

It is very important to determine and improve the health literacy level of these women. The study determined the relationship between vaccine hesitancy and health literacy in pregnant women.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate oxidative damage by measuring erythrocytic reduced/oxidized glutathione as an intracellular thiol pool and serum thiol/disulfide homeostasis as an extracellular thiol pool in patients with opioid use disorder.
Methods: In this prospective cross-sectional study, 33 male patients diagnosed with opioid use disorder and 30 healthy male controls were included. Sociodemographic characteristics and psychometric analyzes were performed and addiction characteristics (duration and amount of heroin use, usage methods) were recorded.
Purpose: We explored the relationships between electrocardiographic (ECG) abnormalities and the clinical outcomes and mortality of patients with non-traumatic aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhages (SAHs).
Methods: This retrospective cohort study enrolled consecutive adult patients who presented to emergency departments with non-traumatic aneurysmal SAHs. We recorded their demographics, clinical characteristics, and ECG findings, and explored the relationships between ECG abnormalities, on the one hand, and 28-day mortality and prognosis, on the other.

Purpose: The study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between orthorexia nervosa and cyberchondria levels among nurses.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 399 nurses through face-to-face interviews. The data were collected using a participant information form, the Cyberchondria Severity Scale, and the Orthorexia Nervosa-11 scale (ORTO-11).
Objective: For patient safety, maintaining hemodynamic stability during surgical procedures is critical. Dynamic indices [such as systolic pressure variation (SPV) and pulse pressure variation (PPV)], have recently seen an increase in use. Given the risks associated with such invasive techniques, there is growing interest in non-invasive monitoring methods-and plethysmographic waveform analysis.

Boron is primarily used in industrial applications, with recent interest revolving around its effects on metabolism. In this study, we administered boric acid (BA), which has positive effects on reproduction, in conjunction with feed supplementation to serve as a model for experimental animal development and breeding. The pregnancy performance, offspring development, and biochemical effects of mice given feed supplemented with BA at concentrations of 0 (control group), 250, and 500 ppm (BA groups) were investigated.
