Introduction: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is defined as glucose intolerance during pregnancy. We aimed to investigate the potential effects of betatrophin and ApoC2 in GDM, focusing on their roles in LPL (lipoprotein lipase) regulation and their relationship with hPL to elucidate the possible impact of hPL on lipid metabolism and its potential contribution to the development of GDM.

Methods: Thirty pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance and 29 with gestational diabetes mellitus (diagnosed by 75g OGTT between 24 and 28 weeks) were included in the study.

Relationship between serum Betatrophin, GPIHBP1, and LDL subfractions in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus.

Objectives: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) leads to changes in the lipid metabolism. In this study, we aimed to compare serum levels of LDL subfractions, betatrophin, and glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored high-density lipoprotein binding protein 1 (GPIHBP1) between patients with GDM and healthy pregnant women.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the normal range of masseter muscle thickness by ultrasonographic measurement in individuals over 15 years of age, and to evaluate its relationship with age, gender, facial morphology, body mass index and parafunctional habits.

Methods: The study was conducted on 115 volunteers whose lateral cephalometric radiography was performed within the indication in Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology. The participants in the study were asked questions about their parafunctional habits, age, height and weight.

Introduction: Delirium tremens (DT) is a serious condition occurring in alcohol withdrawal syndrome. Alcohol consumption may also cause additional health problems, such as respiratory infections or neuropsychiatric conditions such as central pontine myelinolysis. In this clinical scenario, managing DT can be expected to be more compelling and complex.

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is an underdiagnosed and potentially fatal subgroup of pulmonary hypertension, if left untreated. Clinical signs include exertional dyspnea and non-specific symptoms. Diagnosis requires multimodality imaging and heart catheterization.

Effects of Greek juniper (Juniperus excelsa) extract on immune responses and disease resistance against Yersinia ruckeri in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).

This study investigated the effects of Greek juniper extract on immune responses of rainbow trout. In this experiment, 4 doses [0 (Control), 1 (J1), 4 (J4) and 8 (J8) mg/kg] of the extract were administered orally using an oral gavage twice a day for 14 days. Immune responses were measured on 7th and 14th days.

Psychosocial Outcomes of Donors Whose Recipients Died After Living Donor Liver Transplantation.

Purpose: Our aim was to investigate the psychosocial outcomes of the donors whose recipients died after living donor liver transplantation (LDLT).

Methods: Forty-one donors whose recipients died and 87 donors whose recipients were alive after LDLT at Inonu University Liver Transplantation Institute between 2012 and 2017 were included into the study. Demographic data form, Beck anxiety scale, Beck depression scale, Beck Hopelessness Scale, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory, Decision Regret Scale, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and general evaluation questionnaire (24 questions) were used in all donors by face to face questioning.

Turkish Validation of the MISSCARE Survey - Pediatric Version.

Purpose: To conduct Turkish validity and reliability study of the MISSCARE Survey-Pediatric version identifying the missed nursing care in pediatric units and its reasons.

Design And Methods: The sample of this methodological study consisted of 222 nurses working in pediatric units. The study was conducted in three training and research hospitals and one university hospital.

Effects of Minimal Extracorporeal Circulation on the Systemic Inflammatory Response and the Need for Transfusion after Coronary Bypass Grafting Surgery.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to compare the effects of the minimal extracorporeal circulation (MiECT) on postoperative systemic inflammatory response and the need for transfusion in patients undergoing open heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass.

Methods: Patients were divided into two groups; Group M (=31) included the patients operated via using the MiECT system and Group C (=27) included the patients operated via using conventional cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Perioperative markers of inflammation after cardiopulmonary bypass in both groups were tested by measuring the levels via chemiluminescent immunometric assay.

Purpose: This study was performed to reveal the relationship of nursing students' personality traits and entrepreneurship tendency with career adaptability.

Method: This descriptive and correlational study's sample consisted of the junior and senior students in the nursing faculty of a state university in Istanbul (n = 265). The data was collected using the Student Information Questionnaire, Career Adapt-Abilities Scale, Ten Item Personality Inventory, and Scale of University Students Entrepreneurship.

Socially Responsible Leadership: A study with nursing and medical students in Turkey.

This study determined the levels of Socially Responsible Leadership of students studying in the nursing and medical faculties of a public university as well as the influencing variables. The sample of this descriptive and correlational study consisted of the students studying in the nursing and medical faculties of a public university (n = 464). The data were collected using the Socially Responsible Leadership Scale.

Effects of curcumin on haematological values, immunity, antioxidant status and resistance of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) against Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. achromogenes.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of various levels of dietary curcumin on growth performance, haematological values, immunity and protection against Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. achromogenes infection in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss. Fish were fed with diets containing different levels of curcumin; 0% (C), %1 (E1), %2 (E2) and %4 (E3), as treatment groups.

A Simple Method for Quantification of Five Urinary Porphyrins, Porphobilinogen and 5-Aminolevulinic Acid, Using Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry.

Analysis of porphyrins and 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA), porphobilinogen (PBG) in physiological liquids is required for diagnosis and follow-up of porphyrias. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS) methods with higher specificity and sensitivity have been developed. The major disadvantage of those methods is that they require longer extraction times due to their matrix effects.
