Background: A woman's experiences of childbirth, which represents a significant transition in the journey towards motherhood, encompass a range of factors that can influence breastfeeding, parenting behaviors, and readiness for discharge. However, research exploring the intrapartum and postpartum care aspects of the WHO-developed intrapartum care model remains scarce, particularly with regard to breastfeeding, parenting behaviors, and the readiness of the mother in the early postpartum period.

Aim: The objective of this study was to examine the impact of the intrapartum care model that adheres to the guidelines set forth by the World Health Organization (WHO) on several key outcomes, including the mother's maternal behavior towards her infant postpartum, breastfeeding self-efficacy, the success of breastfeeding, and the mother's readiness for hospital discharge.

Handwashing is an essential prevention step in foodservice, This randomized comparative study assessed the effectiveness of three training methods -virtual reality (VR), Glo-Germ (GT), and traditional face-to-face training (CT)- in improving handwashing practices among foodservice workers ( = 129). Training focused on the World Health Organization's 11-step handwashing process. Handwashing in the workplace was observed, in a pre- and post-test design, with microbiological swabs also taken.

: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Traditional diagnostic methods, which depend on subjective assessments, often lack precision. This study evaluates the validity and reliability of a newly developed diagnostic tool, the Distractor-Embedded Auditory Continuous Performance Test (da-CPT), which integrates auditory stimuli with distractors to enhance the clinical utility of ADHD diagnosis.

  • * Out of 90 RTR participants, the median antibody level was 16.7 AU/mL at 42 days post-first dose, with 60% showing positive serology; mycophenolic acid (MFA) and ACE inhibitors were found to decrease seropositivity.
  • * Patients who received the Pfizer/BioNTech booster had better antibody levels and lower COVID-19 infections compared to those with the CoronaVac/Sinovac booster, indicating that heterologous vaccination is more effective for RTRs.

Postimplantation syndrome (PIS) is a known inflammatory response following endovascular stent placement, yet comparative data between venous and arterial stenting remains limited. This study seeks to evaluate the incidence, characteristics, and clinical implications of PIS across these two distinct vascular territories. We retrospectively analyzed 191 patients who underwent either venous (n = 36) or arterial (n = 155) stent placement.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study compares surgical and endovascular techniques for managing aortic coarctation, focusing on long-term outcomes like re-coarctation rates and late arterial hypertension.
  • - A total of 69 patients, mostly treated electively, were analyzed; the surgical group showed significantly higher one-year freedom from reintervention compared to the endovascular group.
  • - While both methods are effective, surgical repair tends to lead to better long-term outcomes, whereas endovascular repair allows for quicker recovery, suggesting the need for individualized treatment decisions based on patient factors.

  • The study investigated the two-year outcomes of the covered endovascular reconstruction (CERAB) procedure for patients with complex aortoiliac occlusive disease, focusing on a group of 40 patients.
  • All patients had a 100% technical success rate with notable improvements in clinical symptoms observed during the follow-up period.
  • The patency rates at 36 months were favorable, with primary patency at 85%, indicating that CERAB is effective for treating advanced aorto-occlusive conditions.

  • A study evaluated the introduction of the SLICK1 allele from Senepol cattle into Holsteins to improve heat tolerance, focusing on the genetic traits associated with thermal stress adaptation.
  • The research tracked the progress of this genetic introgression, finding that SLICK1+ Holsteins showed some Senepol ancestry and a secondary introgression related to heat stress resilience.
  • These results highlight the potential of genetic modifications to enhance livestock traits and adapt to climate change without compromising the original breed’s genetics.

  • This study evaluated the effectiveness and complications of using veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) and intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) treatment in 255 cardiac surgery patients at Ankara University Heart Center from 2000-2023.
  • It found that patients who received both VA-ECMO and IABP had a significantly higher weaning rate (81.4%) and one-year survival rate (75.9%) compared to those who only received one of the treatments.
  • The research concluded that using both therapies together improved patient outcomes without increasing complications, suggesting this approach may be beneficial for select patients with severe cardiac dysfunction post-surgery.
