[Standardization of electromagnetic fields of 3-30 MHz with reference to the time factor].

In chronic experiments (4 months) in rabbits, rats, and mice biological effects were investigated from 7 exposure regimen of electromagnetic fields with a frequency of 24 MHz at field strengths of the electric field component of 125, 250, 500, and 1,000 V/m, respectively, and an exposure time of 0.25, 1, and 4 hrs. respectively.

[Selective action of chorionic gonadotropin on lymphocyte subpopulations].

Influence of chorionic gonadotropin on induction and formation of specific T-suppressors, TDTH-effectors and spontaneous killer cells, depending on its doses and schema of injections was studied. It is shown that chorionic gonadotropin has a stimulating effect on precursors of T-suppressors, not affecting the mature specific T-suppressors, causes damage to the TDTH-effectors and spontaneous killer cells, that permits chorionic gonadotropin to be recognized as an immunomodulating agent.

Composite lymphoma with immunoblastic features and Langerhans' cell granulomatosis (histiocytosis X).

A 50-year-old male with a history of tonsillar and right axillary lymph node enlargement due to atypical lymphoid hyperplasia presented two years later with marked bilateral axillary and inguinal lymphadenopathy. The lymph node biopsy showed a composite lymphoma (follicular, mixed, small and large cell plus B-immunoblastic sarcoma) with associated focal Langerhans' cell granulomatosis (LCG) (Histiocytosis X). The diagnosis of composite lymphoma was supported by the immunohistochemical demonstration of two different monoclonal patterns in the follicular and diffuse areas.

A randomized comparison of two dosage schedules of methyl CCNU: three-week versus six-week treatments.

Plasmapheresis for thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).

A 70-year-old woman with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) was treated with plasmapheresis using fresh frozen plasma as a fluid replacement. Complete recovery and lasting remission were observed. It appears that plasmapheresis combined with massive fresh frozen plasma can be an effective mode of treatment for patients who were, otherwise, refractory to conventional therapy.

[Effect of extracts of different origin on primary cultures of cells from inbred mice].

The effect of allogeneic and syngeneic extracts from inbred male and female mouse spleens on the primary culture of fibroblasts obtained from subcutaneous connective tissue of CBA and C57BL/6j female mouse fetus was studied. Cytotoxic and growth-inhibiting effect on the cultures increased successively in using extracts from the tissues of syngeneic male mice, allogeneic female and male mice. Consequently, an increase in the degree of antigenic differences of the target=cells and extracts led to enhancement of the allogeneic inhibition phenomenon.
