Background: Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) variants are essential for determining eligibility for CFTR modulator drugs (CFTRms). In contrast to Europe and the USA, the treatment eligibility profile of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients in Türkiye is not known. In this study we aimed to determine the eligibility of CF patients in Türkiye for the CFTRms.

Effect of maternal body mass index on inflammatory biomarkers and dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis during pregnancy.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between maternal body mass index (BMI), a modifiable factor during the reproductive period, and inflammation and oxidative stress by assessing dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis (TDH) in both the mother and fetus.

Method: This prospective cohort study was conducted between May and June 2024 at a tertiary obstetric care center. The inclusion criteria consisted of healthy pregnant women aged over 18 years, between 37 and 41 weeks of gestation, who had not used medications other than iron and folic acid supplements, with newborns birth weight between 2,500 grams (g) and 4,500 g, and Apgar scores ≥ 7 at the 5th minute after birth.

To unlock the full potential of the COF space, composed of 69 784 different types of materials, we studied the adsorption of five important gas molecules, CO, CH, H, N, and O in COFs at various pressures combining high-throughput molecular simulations and machine learning. Comparison of the Effects of Nintedanib and Pirfenidone on Pulmonary Function Test Parameters and Radiological Findings in Patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis: A Real-Life Study.

The aim of our study is to compare the effects of pirfenidone and nintedanib on lung function and radiologic findings in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and to identify which drug is more appropriate for which patient group. The data of patients who were treated in our department for at least one year between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2022 and who were started on pirfenidone or nintedanib treatment with the diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were divided into two groups-the nintedanib and pirfenidone groups-and both groups were compared in terms of progression in lung function tests (changes in FEV1, FVC, 6 MWT and DLCO values at the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th months compared to baseline values) and radiological findings (the presence of progression in findings such as ground-glass opacity, reticulation, honeycomb and traction bronchiectasis) within 1 year after diagnosis.

Epidemiologic evaluation of pediatric patients receiving high-flow nasal cannula therapy in the pediatric emergency department.

High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy has emerged as an important method of respiratory support in the pediatric emergency department (ED), but its optimal use and factors affecting success require further investigation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnosis and treatment response of patients receiving HFNC therapy in the pediatric ED and to investigate the factors affecting the success of HFNC therapy. This retrospective, cross-sectional study analyzed the data of 415 patients admitted to the Pediatric ED of the Istanbul Medical Faculty from 2021 to 2022 who received HFNC therapy.
