Rhabdomyolysis is a potentially life-threatening condition in pediatric patients, often triggered by various factors, such as infections, trauma, hereditary metabolic disorders, and certain medications. Elevated creatine kinase levels are commonly observed in newborns and are often attributed to factors such as hypoxia, labor dystocia, and birth trauma. However, rhabdomyolysis in this population is rare and typically associated with hereditary metabolic disorders, medications, or infections.

Despite being used in research for over three decades, its standardization remains inadequate. Predominantly conducted on rats and mice, the procedure poses challenges due to mice's smaller and more fragile nature.

This study was conducted to determine the smartphone addiction and severity of depressive symptoms of high school students. In this descriptive cross-sectional and correlational study, the sample consisted of 1744 high school students. In the study, data were collected using a Descriptive Questionnaire, the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Form, and the Depression Scale for Children.

Design: This was a descriptive study.
Methods: This study was conducted in a plastic, reconstructive, and esthetic surgery clinic at a university hospital in Bursa, Turkey.
Introduction: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is invaluable for understanding brain disorders, but data complexity poses a challenge in experimental research. In this study, we introduce suMRak, a MATLAB application designed for efficient preclinical brain MRI analysis. SuMRak integrates brain segmentation, volumetry, image registration, and parameter map generation into a unified interface, thereby reducing the number of separate tools that researchers may require for straightforward data handling.

The most used preclinical stroke models, the Koizumi and Longa middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) methods, have reported retinal damage with great variability, leaving the disruption of retinal blood supply via MCAO poorly investigated, even providing conflicting assumptions on the origin of the ophthalmic artery in rodents. The aim of our study was to use longitudinal magnetic resonance assessment of cerebral and retinal vascular perfusion after the ischemic injury to clarify whether and how the Koizumi and Longa methods induce retinal ischemia and how they differ in terms of cerebral and retinal lesion evolution.

Therefore, we aimed to provide the current state of the art of lentivirus (LV) and adeno-associated virus (AAV) mediated gene interventions in preclinical ischemic stroke models. A systematic analysis including qualitative and quantitative syntheses of studies published until December 2020 was performed.

Method: The sample of the study consisted of 110 patients admitted to the Chest Diseases polyclinic of a private hospital and diagnosed as COPD for at least one year. The data of the study were collected using the "Individual Information Form", "COPD and Asthma Sleep Scale (CASIS)" and "Medical Research Council (MRC) Dyspnoea Scale".
Unlabelled: Inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) can present with psychiatric signs that vary widely from one disease to another. This picture is further complicated by the fact that these features occur at very different illness time points, which may further delay appropriate diagnosis and treatment. In this case series of 62 children and adolescents suffering from IMDs, we clustered psychiatric signs (on the basis of the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders classification) as well as impaired cognitive domains (on the basis of the Research Domain Criteriamatrix) according to their mean age of onset (5.

We report on a 3-month-old boy who developed bullous pemphigoid 1 week after the second routine administration of a hexavalent vaccine. The disease was resistant to standard therapies (including oral and topical corticosteroids) but was relieved by intravenous immunoglobulin treatment.

Non-invasive monitoring of pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) in postoperative cardiac surgery patients might be useful, particularly for management of pulmonary hypertension. For this purpose, we sought to assess Doppler echocardiography in the intensive care setting. In 73 patients, hemodynamics was measured using both, invasive gold standard (pulmonary artery catheter), and non-invasively by Doppler echocardiography.

Background: Selective skeletonization of the internal mammary artery (IMA) without adjacent vasculo-muscular structures reduces trauma to the chest wall, results in elongated grafts, makes ideal graft positioning possible, and eliminates the need to implant a dissected or hypoplastic graft with direct visual control of the vessel. We compared two techniques of skeletonizing the IMA in a prospective randomized trial.
Methods: 51 IMAs were randomly harvested and divided into two groups according to the technique of skeletonization.

Objective: The present study was performed as an attempt to analyze the relationship between body weight and human myocardial performance. As overweight is frequently associated with hypertension, stenosis of epimyocardial coronary arteries and other factors that influence myocardial performance, the experimental model of isolated human atrial myocardium was selected. Atrial contractile performance does neither depend on the extent of stenosis of epicardial coronary arteries nor on the degree of hypertension and its secondary pathology.

Metastatic spread of tumor cells through the organism depends on proteolytic activity and is the death determinant for cancer patients. Paradoxically, increased expression of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1), a natural inhibitor of several endometalloproteinases, including matrix metalloproteinases and a disintegrin and metalloproteinase-10 (ADAM-10), in cancer patients is negatively correlated with their survival, although TIMP-1 itself inhibits invasion of some tumor cells.
