Backgrounds: Biomedical research requires sophisticated understanding and reasoning across multiple specializations. While large language models (LLMs) show promise in scientific applications, their capability to safely and accurately support complex biomedical research remains uncertain.
Methods: We present , a novel question-and-answer benchmark for evaluating LLMs in biomedical research.
Despite arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) being predominantly a right ventricular (RV) disease, concomitant left ventricular (LV) involvement has been recognized. ARVC is diagnosed by the RV-centric 2010 Task Force Criteria(TFC) using routine echocardiography, but previous studies have suggested that strain imaging may be more sensitive to detect RV and LV dysfunction. No data however are available regarding the additional value of combining biventricular strain for risk stratification.

We have compared two typical CNMs (double-walled carbon nanotubes and few-layer graphene) in their non-oxidised and oxidised forms in terms of their antibacterial ( and ) and antiviral (SARS-CoV2) activities after anchoring them onto the surface of silicone. We propose a very simple and effective protocol using the air-brush spray deposition method to entrap CNMs on the surfaces of two different silicone materials and demonstrate that the nanomaterials are anchored within the polymer while still being in contact with bacteria.

Aims: Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) has emerged as a mediator between systemic inflammatory disorders and cardiovascular disease, and may therefore play a role in the pathophysiology of cardiac involvement in systemic sclerosis (SSc). The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between EAT and left ventricular (LV) function, and to determine the prognostic value of EAT in patients with SSc.
Methods And Results: Consecutive patients with SSc who underwent non-contrast thorax computed tomography and echocardiography were included.
Aims: To evaluate the prognostic implications of the left atrial reservoir strain-defined diastolic dysfunction (LARS-DD) grade in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) for severe aortic stenosis (AS) and to determine whether post-TAVI LARS was more closely associated with new-onset atrial fibrillation than pre-TAVI LARS.
Methods And Results: Pre-TAVI LARS-DD was evaluated by speckle-tracking echocardiography and was assigned as Grade 0 to 1 (LARS ≥24%), Grade 2 (LARS 19-24%), and Grade 3 (LARS <19%). Patients were followed up for the primary endpoint of all-cause mortality from the date of TAVI.
Glutaric Aciduria Type 1 (GA1) is a serious inborn error of metabolism with no pharmacological treatments. A novel strategy to treat this disease is to divert the toxic biochemical intermediates to less toxic or nontoxic metabolites. Here, we report a putative novel target, succinyl-CoA:glutarate-CoA transferase (SUGCT), which we hypothesize suppresses the GA1 metabolic phenotype through decreasing glutaryl-CoA and the derived 3-hydroxyglutaric acid.

The adsorption study of SF on cement powder compared to stoichiometric hydroxyapatite and nanocrystalline carbonated apatite was investigated to understand the interaction between this antibiotic and the calcium phosphate phases involved in the cement formulation and setting reaction.
