Objectives: The present study investigated the effects of various irrigation activation techniques, including laser-activated irrigation using a laser with a novel tip design (photon-induced photoacoustic streaming, PIPS) on the bond strength of an epoxy resin-based sealer to root dentin.
Materials And Methods: Seventy-two single-rooted human mandibular premolars were prepared using the rotary system to size 40 and randomly divided into four groups (n = 18) according to the final irrigation activation technique used as follows: conventional irrigation (CI), laser-activated irrigation with PIPS (LAI-PIPS), passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI), and sonic irrigation (SI) with 5 mL of 17 % EDTA and 2.5 % NaOCl.

Acute rheumatic fever (ARF) carditis is treated with steroids, which can cause changes in the cellular immune response, especially decreased CD3 (+) T cells. Nosocomial infections due to steroid use for treatment of ARF carditis or secondary to the changes in the cellular immune response have not been reported in the literature. Sphingomonas paucimobilis is a Gram-negative bacillus causing community- and hospital-acquired infections.

We aimed to analyze the balance of the cardiac autonomic functions by assessing HRV in children with arterial switch operation (ASO).
Methods: In this observational cohort study, HRV analysis using 24-h Holter electrocardiography recordings was examined in 22 patients (mean age: 59.
Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is a common cause of intellectual disability, developmental delay and autism spectrum disorders. This syndrome is due to a functional loss of the FMR1 gene product FMRP, and, in most cases, it is caused by CGG repeat expansion in the FMR1 promoter. Yet, also other FMR1 mutations may cause a FXS-like phenotype.

Root canal preparation was performed up to a #30 file on 64 extracted single-rooted mandibular premolar teeth, which were then divided into four groups. Each group was irrigated with one of the following irrigation methods: (a) irrigation with conventional irrigation open-ended needles, (b) continuous ultrasonic irrigation, (c) 0.

Objective: To compare the carotid artery intima-media thickness in pediatric type 1 diabetic patients with that in healthy control subjects matched for age, sex, height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference.
Methods: Fifty diabetic patients and forty-five control subjects were enrolled into this observational, cross-sectional, controlled study. Carotid artery intima-media thickness (cIMT), flow-mediated dilation (FMD) and carotid stiffness index were measured by using a carotid Doppler and real-time ultrasound.
Reports state that Down syndrome (DS) patients with congenitally normal hearts might experience the development of cardiac abnormalities such as cardiac autonomic dysfunction, valvular lesions, bradycardia, and atrioventricular block. However, the presence of any difference in terms of P-wave dispersion (PWd) and QT dispersion (QTd) was not evaluated previously. This study prospectively investigated 100 DS patients with structurally normal hearts and 100 age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects.

Materials And Methods: This single centre and prospective study was performed in 6200 consecutive volunteer blood donors admitted to the Central Blood Bank of Dicle University Hospital.
Objectives: We prospectively investigated the efficacy of modified myocardial performance index (mod-MPI) in the assessment of cardiac functions in fetuses with and without an isolated hyperechogenic focus (IHF) in the left ventricle and compared with conventional fetal echocardiography.
Methods: The study group consisted of 50 fetuses with only an IHF in the left ventricle, without any other cardiac or extracardiac anomalies; 50 fetuses without IHF served as controls. All fetal echocardiographic studies were performed between 20th and 24th weeks of gestation.
Objective : To evaluate the value of neurologic and cardiologic assessment and also the frequency of iron deficiency anemia in children with Breath Holding Spells (BHS). Methods : The hospital charts of patients diagnosed with BHS between 2011 and 2013 were reviewed retrospectively. Results : A total of 165 children (90 boys, 75 girls) with BHS comprised the study group.

Although head-up tilt table testing (HUTT) was previously considered as the reference standard in the diagnosis of syncope, in children with a typical history of reflex syncope, normal physical examination, and electrocardiogram (ECG) are sufficient to cease investigation; however, according to recent reports, TT is indicated in patients in whom this diagnosis cannot be proven by initial evaluation. The hypothesis of this study is that P-wave dispersion (PWD) can be a useful electrocardiographic predictor of cardiac autonomic dysfunction in children with vasovagal syncope (VVS).

Conventional echocardiographic methods are insufficient for evaluating systolic functions in children with chronic renal failure. The aim of the present study was to investigate cardiac functions in children with chronic renal failure by evaluating left atrial volume and functions.

Lamivudine, adefovir, entecavir and telbivudine are the oral drugs licensed for the treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B. Implementation of antiviral therapy leads to the emergence of mutant strains during the treatment in chronic hepatitis B.

Methods: Twenty-five drug-resistant patients with epilepsy treated with a ketogenic diet were enrolled in this study.
Rhythms that derive from parts of atria other than the sinus node are called premature atrial contractions (PACs). Vast majority of fetal PACs are idiopathic. Fetal PACs usually have a good prognosis and disappear spontaneously during pregnancy or after delivery.

Recently, the concentration of serum pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) has become accepted as a prognostic marker in hemodialysis patients. This study determined the relationship between PAPP-A and bicarbonate levels in these patients.

It is the cofactor involved in catecholamine degradation and plays a role in myelin synthesis. The current study aimed to investigate the association between vitamin B12 levels and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) during adolescence when accelerated myelin synthesis increases the vitamin B12 need.

Chitosan-(CHIT) and ionic liquid- (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate (IL)) modified single-use graphite electrodes (PGEs) were developed for the first time in the present study for the enhanced monitoring of DNA, and also for sequence-selective DNA hybridization by measuring the guanine oxidation signal. The electrochemical behaviour of the CHIT-IL modified electrodes was first investigated (with unmodified electrodes as controls) using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Sequence-selective DNA hybridization related to Hepatitis B virus (HBV) was also evaluated in the case of hybridization between amino-linked HBV probe and its complementary (target), a noncomplementary (NC) sequence, single base mismatch (MM), and also in the medium of target/mismatch (MM) mixtures (1:1).
