This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. Background: Hallux valgus correction is mostly done by metatarsal procedures, and widely accepted strategy is to decide which surgical method should be used is based on radiological severity using intermetatarsal (IMA) and hallux valgus (HVA) angles (classical angular correction approach-CACA). The aim of the study is to compare the postoperative improvement in radiographic parameters and morphologic appearance of the foot between patients operated with and without adhering to CACA strategy based on classical severity classification using angle measurements.

Evaluation of the efficacy of subtenon autologous platelet-rich plasma therapy in patients with retinitis pigmentosa and factors affecting response to the treatment.

Varied toxicity profile of intravitreal melphalan in two retinoblastoma eyes.

Retinoblastoma (RB) is the most common primary intraocular malignant tumor of childhood. Persistent or recurrent vitreous seeding is the most common reason for therapeutic failure in advanced RB. Intravitreal chemotherapy has emerged as an effective therapy for vitreous seeding in RB, with a generally acceptable safety profile.

Objective: To determine if short-duration peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) cause a hypercoagulable state in healthy dogs, based on point-of-care viscoelastic coagulation monitor (VCM).

Animals: Ten beagle dogs were randomly and equally allocated into control and PICC groups.

Procedure: Control dogs had VCM analysis on whole blood following direct venipuncture before sedation (T0) and 2 h after sedation (T2).

Introduction: A survey conducted by the European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO) revealed significant differences in the surgical training of the ophthalmology residents in Europe, including a disparity between the sexes and a variation in the experience on cataract surgery (CC) between them. This study is about the Spanish sub-cohort of the survey, and its objective is to present and analyse the peculiarities of ophthalmology training in Spain within the European context, as well as discussing ways to harmonise and improve that training throughout the EU.

Methods: We analyse data of the Spanish participants in the EBO exams, defining subgroups by the Autonomous Communities existing in Spain.

Calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) constitute the backbone of modern acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) prophylaxis regimens but have limited efficacy in the prevention and treatment of chronic GVHD (cGVHD). We investigated the effect of CNIs on immune tolerance after stem cell transplantation with discovery-based single-cell gene expression and T cell receptor (TCR) assays of clonal immunity in tandem with traditional protein-based approaches and preclinical modeling. While cyclosporin and tacrolimus suppressed the clonal expansion of CD8+ T cells during GVHD, alloreactive CD4+ T cell clusters were preferentially expanded.

Methods: This study is a prospective interventional study. Anterior capsule tissue samples that were obtained by the anterior capsulotomy method during phacoemulsification surgery were fixed and examined under a transmission electron microscope.

Reappearance of excentric persistent fetal vasculature stalk following laser treatment in a patient with type 1 retinopathy of prematurity.

Purpose: In this report, we aim to present an unusual reappearance of hyaloidal artery remnant with atypical localization during the follow-up of an infant who underwent indirect laser photocoagulation for type 1 ROP.

Methods: Retrospective case report.

Results: We report a case of reappearance of an eccentrically located hyaloidal stalk in the macular area during the follow-up period, 2 weeks after laser photocoagulation for type 1 ROP subsequently progressed to cause foveal distortion, which is successfully removed with a lens-sparing vitrectomy.
