Introduction: In this study, we evaluated patient response and haemodynamic parameters in patients with low ejection fraction undergoing coronary bypass surgery with either fentanil or remifentanil in conjunction with etomidate.
Material And Methods: We evaluated 30 cases of coronary artery surgery, which were divided into two treatment groups ( = 15 each). In group F (fentanil group), the following regimen was employed for anaesthesia induction: 1 mg/kg lidocaine, 0.
Objectives: To evaluate the effect of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and antireflux treatment on peak nasal inspiratory airflow (PNIF).
Design: Prospective observational study was conducted.
Setting: Tertiary otorhinolaryngology clinic.
Introduction: The aim of this study was to analyze the functions of pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN) in isolated REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) and REM sleep without atonia (RSWA) to investigate the role of PPN in dream-enacting motor behaviors in RBD. We evaluated the activity of PPN through the prepulse modulation (PPM) together with other brainstem reflexes to investigate the differences in changes at brainstem.
Methods: We included nine patients with isolated RSWA and 10 patients with iRBD.
Objectives: Renal transplant recipients are at risk for ventricular arrhythmia and sudden death. To assess that risk, we compared the ventricular repolarization markers of pediatric renal transplant recipients with those of healthy children.
Materials And Methods: We included 30 children and adolescents who were followed for at least 6 months after renal transplant; 30 age- and sex-matched children were included for the control group.
Introduction: Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) is characterized by recurrent attacks of fever, serositis, and arthritis. Some patients suffer from associated inflammatory conditions and damage related to FMF that may potentially impair work productivity which have not been studied to date.
Methods: Consecutive FMF patients who were attending a tertiary referral center and age-and sex-matched healthy subjects enrolled into the study.

Introduction: In adult patients with epilepsy, treatment of comorbid obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) by positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy results in improvements in the control of seizures. This is the first study investigating the long-term compliance with PAP therapy in patients with sleep-related epilepsy and OSAS.
Methods: In this longitudinal study, patients with sleep-related epilepsy and OSAS were followed-up for five years.
The advances in colloid chemistry and nanofabrication allowed us to synthesize noble monometallic and bimetallic nanocrystals with tunable optical properties in the visible and near infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. In the strong coupling regime, surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) of metal nanoparticles interact with excitons of quantum dots or organic dyes and plasmon-exciton hybrid states called plexcitons are formed. Until now, various shaped metal nanoparticles such as nanorods, core-shell nanoparticles, hollow nanoparticles, nanoprisms, nanodisks, nanorings, and nanobipyramids have been synthesized to generate plasmon-exciton mixed states.

Several risk factors have been identified for DDH. The aim of this study is to investigate whether vitamin D and vitamin D receptor (VDR) levels differ in children with DDH and whether they have an effect on DDH development.

Objective: To evaluate the clinicoradiologic conditions of patients with a herniated cervical disk who were treated with percutaneous endoscope-assisted cervical diskectomy.
Materials And Methods: The medical data of 27 patients (16 men and 11 women; mean age: 40.9 years) who were operated on with the posterior endoscope-assisted cervical diskectomy method were reviewed retrospectively.
Selective catalytic reduction of CO to methanol has tremendous importance in the chemical industry. It mitigates two critical issues in the modern society, the overwhelming climate change and the dependence on fossil fuels. The most used catalysts are currently based on mixed copper and zinc phases, where the high surface of active copper species is a critical factor for the catalyst performance.

Patients with solitary kidneys (SKs) are at risk of hypertension (HT) and associated end-organ damage. The authors aimed to evaluate whether children with congenital SKs (CSKs) have higher office, ambulatory, or central blood pressure (BP), increased arterial stiffness or left ventricular mass index, or any risk for arrhythmia. With this purpose, patients with CSK and healthy controls being followed up between January 2018 and June 2019 were enrolled in the study.

ECG is a common diagnostic tool in medical practice. Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a rare but devastating event. The most common cause of SCD in the young is a primary arrhythmic event, which is often produced by malignant ventricular arrhythmia.

The current European League Against Rheumatism recommendations state that patients with FMF should be evaluated at least every 6 months to monitor attacks, acute phase response, and proteinuria.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess compliance of FMF patients with regular follow-up visits and the associated factors.
Pneumococcal infections are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in Chronic Lung Diseases. However, exacerbations, which make the treatment of diseases very difficult, and corticosteroids used during treatment carry a great risk of pneumococcal infection and adversely affect the treatment. The most rational way to reduce the negative impact of pneumococcal infections on the clinical and economic burden of Chronic Lung Diseases is vaccination of the risky population.

Materials And Methods: This was a single center, retrospective, descriptive and observational study using cross-sectional data, which were collected from confirmed COVID-19 patients at a tertiary education hospital. Patients' demographic and clinical characteristics, mortality rates, and the factors associated with hospitalization were analyzed.
Background And Purpose: The relationship among obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) and obesity is very complex and multi-directional. Obesity and increased visceral fat are important perpetuating factors for DM2 in patients with OSAS. On the other hand, OSAS itself leads to obesity by causing both leptin and insulin resistance as a consequence of activation of the sympathetic nervous system.

Background: Cancer maintains its importance as a major public health issue in the world and developing countries such as Turkey. Determining individuals' knowledge and attitudes about cancer is very important for cancer prevention. Research on knowledge and attitudes plays an important role in the development of targeted policies in the fight against cancer.

We aimed to show laboratory problems including changes of test numbers, changes of test panels, and differences of preanalytical errors during Covid-19 pandemic and, in the current study, we also intended to give solutions for the obstacles to guide other possible pandemics.
Methods: Our study was based on data between January 10, 2020, and May 10, 2020.
Luteolin is a common phytochemical from the flavonoid family with a flavone structure. Studies reported several bioactivities for luteolin and similar flavones. Attenuating the increased adipogenesis of bone marrow cells (hBM-MSCs) has been regarded as a therapeutic target against osteoporotic bone disorders.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of quercetin 3--β-D-galactopyranoside (Q3G), a glycoside of a common bioactive phytochemical quercetin, on osteogenic and adipogenic differentiation of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hBM-MSCs). hBM-MSCs were induced to differentiate into osteoblasts and adipocytes in the presence or absence of Q3G and the differentiation markers were analyzed to observe the effect.

Intrinsic aging is also termed chronological aging, which is the accumulation of inevitable changes over time and is largely genetically determined. Superimposed on this intrinsic process, exogenous aging is associated with environmental exposure, mainly to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and more commonly termed as photoaging.

Myocardial efficiency (MEf) describes the amount of external work (EW) done by the left ventricle per unit of oxygen consumed (mVO₂). In the present study, we aimed to investigate MEf in patients with asymptomatic severe MR using a novel echocardiographic method.
