Background: INTELLIVENT-Adaptive Support Ventilation (I-ASV; C6; Hamilton Medical; Bonaduz, Switzerland) is a closed-loop ventilation mode that continuously controls the patient's ventilation and oxygenation. It sets the minute ventilation, PEEP, and oxygen levels based on the targets set by the clinician and on physiological input from the patient.
Aim: The aim was to compare I-ASV and PSV modes regarding weaning in intensive care patients.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a genetically heterogeneous neurobehavioral disorder. The etiology and the inheritance pattern are usually multifactorial. The index case is a 3-year-old male, whose family applied to the child psychiatry outpatient clinic due to failure to speak at 30 months.

Iron overload and cellular senescence have been implicated in liver fibrosis, but their possible mechanistic connection has not been explored. To address this, we have delved into the role of iron and senescence in an experimental model of chronic liver injury, analyzing whether an iron chelator would prevent liver fibrosis by decreasing hepatocyte senescence. The model of carbon tetrachloride (CCl) in mice was used as an experimental model of liver fibrosis.

However, further study is needed to assess DOACs' effectiveness and safety compared to warfarin in a real-world context. Thus, this meta-analysis compares the effectiveness and safety of warfarin and DOACs in patients with VTE.

Method: A total of 270 patients were included in this multicentre, retrospective study. Among the patients who were transferred in from the earthquake region and developed rhabdomyolysis, those with creatine kinase (CK) values >1000 U/L were included in our study.
Heart failure (HF) is considered one of a leading cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. The association between HF and venous thromboembolism (VTE) has been reported in several studies owing to many physiological and thromboembolic risk factors. Thus, the need for extended thromboprophylaxis during the post-discharge period in HF patients has been evaluated.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLiver fibrosis is the consequence of chronic liver injury in the presence of an inflammatory component. Although the main executors of this activation are known, the mechanisms that lead to the inflammatory process that mediates the production of pro-fibrotic factors are not well characterized. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling in hepatocytes is essential for the regenerative processes of the liver; however, its potential role in regulating the fibrotic niche is not yet clear.

Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 104 PHC providers were subjected to a validated AKAS scale via Survey Monkey. The tool consists of 4 parameters that users can respond to using a 4-point Likert scale to assess their awareness (12 statements), knowledge (11 statements), attitude (11 statements), and skills (13 statements) on TM.
Gitelman syndrome is a rare, autosomal recessively inherited tubulopathy manifesting with hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, hypocalciuria, and metabolic alkalosis. Common symptoms include fatigue, myalgia, reduced performance capacity, tetany, paresthesia, and delayed growth. However, as reported in the literature, diagnosis in some patients is prompted by an incidental finding of hypokalemia.

We determined the feasibility to detect actionable GAs using TruSight™ Oncology 500 (TSO500) in 200 consecutive patients with NSCLC.
Materials And Methods: DNA and RNA were sequenced on an Illumina® NextSeq 550 instrument and processed using the TSO500 Docker pipeline.
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a molecularly heterogeneous disease. In addition to genomic alterations, cancer transcriptional profiling can be helpful to tailor cancer treatment and to estimate each patient's outcome. Transcriptional activity levels of 50 molecular pathways were inferred in 4573 LUAD patients using Gene Set Variation Analysis (GSVA) method.

Objectives: Teratogens are responsible for 5% of all known causes of congenital anomalies. Isotretinoin, a retinoic acid-derived agent, leads to congenital anomalies in 21-52% of cases when exposure occurs during pregnancy according to studies conducted before 2006. However, rates of congenital anomalies were much lower in later studies.

However, data regarding the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in reducing mortality among critically ill patients with COVID-19 remains unclear.
Aims: To determine the vaccination status and investigate the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine on the 28-day mortality in critically ill patients with COVID-19.
Background: In insulin resistance (IR), it is thought that pancreatic fat accumulation may decrease pancreatic volume, cause an impaired endocrine function, and simultaneously lead to an exocrine dysfunction before diabetes develops.
Aim: The association between pancreatic exocrine function and insulin resistance (IR) was assessed in a population with insulin resistance.
Method: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study that included 43 IR cases with no other comorbid diseases or pregnancy and 41 healthy controls.
