Objective: Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) affects the cardiovascular system, and epicardial fat tissue (EFT) thickness is closely associated with cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis. Despite this, the association between EFT thickness and pHPT has not been studied in a clinical setting. This study aimed to assess EFT thickness in patients with pHPT.

Thrombin activatable fibrinolysis inhibitor (TAFI) is an important procoagulant factor. Patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS) also have an elevated procoagulant status. However, TAFI and its association with MetS are still not well known.

A new device was tested on rabbits for the improvement of lagophthalmos, which causes dryness and irritation of the eye and may cause blindness if untreated. In the presented study, 14 rabbits were injected with local anesthetic to induce temporary facial palsy leading to lagophthalmos on one side. To provide functionality to the upper eyelids, ferromagnetic steel plates were either implanted within the eyelid or taped on the eyelid surface.

Cavernous hemangioma (CH) is a benign vascular malformation. Intracranial CH is generally localized as an intracranial-intraaxial and responsible for 5-13% of all intracranial vascular malformations. Intracranial-extraaxial CHs are rare rather than intracranial-intraaxial CHs.

Purpose: To evaluate the oxidative stress status and anti-oxidative defence in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Methods: A total of 22 patients diagnosed with AMD and 23 age-matched healthy controls were included in the present study. Serum levels of total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), total thiol status (TTS) and paraoxonase 1 (PON1) activity were investigated from samples.

Objective: Hypothyroidism, whether overt or subclinical, has multiple effects on the cardiovascular system. Epicardial fat tissue (EFT) is closely related to cardiovascular disorders and atherosclerosis. Our study aimed to assess EFT thickness and carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) displaying overt and subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH).

The thyroid is a vascular endocrine gland with two lateral lobes connected by a narrow, median isthmus. Although a wide range of congenital anomalies of the thyroid gland has been reported in the literature, agenesis of the thyroid isthmus is a very rare congenital anomaly. Thyroid isthmus agenesis does not manifest clinical symptoms, and it can be confused with other thyroid pathologies.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of body mass index (BMI) on early functional results of patients who undergo isolated partial meniscectomy.

Methods: The functional results for 1,090 patients who underwent partial meniscectomy, in 2 different orthopaedic clinics, were evaluated retrospectively. The study includes cases with arthroscopic partial meniscectomy for isolated meniscal tears; patients with concomitant knee pathology were excluded.

Background And Aims: The success of I-131 therapy in geriatric patients who were referred to an endocrinology clinic with toxic nodular goiter and who lived in iodine-deficiency regions was studied.

Materials And Methods: Patients older than 60 years who received I-131 therapy were included via retrospective data analyses. Fifty-nine patients between 60 and 82 years of age were enrolled in the study.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the osteochondral autologous graft transfer system in the treatment of chondral and osteochondral lesions of the knee.

Methods: Sixty five knees of sixty four patients who underwent autologous osteochondral graft transfer were evaluated with clinical scores and imaging techniques.

Results: The average follow up was 82.

In this study, we present a 36-year-old male patient who developed heterotopic ossification after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction performed using bone-patellar tendon-bone autograft harvested from the 1/3 middle part of the patellar tendon. This ossified part, which restricted range of motion of the affected knee, was excised surgically 1 year after diagnosis. Physical examination, conducted 36 months later, revealed the achievement of full range of motion without any complaints or recurrences.

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(16)H(14)N(4)O(4), contains one half-mol-ecule of (nitro-phen-yl)ethanimine and the complete mol-ecule is generated by a crystallographic inversion centre. The mol-ecule has an E conformation with respect to each C=N double bond. The central C=N-N=C plane is twisted from the benzene rings with a dihedral angle of 24.
