In myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with TP53 aberrations, dissecting the interaction amongst patient, disease and treatment factors are important for therapeutic decisions and prognostication. This retrospective analysis included patients with newly diagnosed MDS (>5% blasts) and AML with TP53 mutation(s) treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center. We factored patient age, TP53 aberration burden, therapy intensity and use of venetoclax in the AML subgroup, and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to interrogate outcomes.

The periodic number (PN) representation of the chemical systems, introduced by Dmitri Mendeleev, uncovers the fundamental principle of chemical similarity in a straightforward way. In this framework, the rows correspond to the principal quantum numbers of the elements' electronic configurations when considered isolated atoms. This systematic arrangement allows for a deeper understanding of the relationships and patterns among the elements.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study analyzed how different types of donors affect outcomes of hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) in patients with myelofibrosis, finding that the use of haploidentical donors rose significantly from 3% in 2013 to 19% in 2019.
  • - Among 1,032 patients with chronic-phase myelofibrosis, matched sibling donor HCTs showed better overall survival in the first three months compared to haploidentical and matched unrelated donor HCTs, with notably lower rates of graft failure.
  • - While matched sibling donors had superior early outcomes, there were no significant differences in long-term survival or disease-free survival among the different donor types, suggesting hap

Background: Reducing healthcare disparities among children is extremely important given the potential impact of these disparities on long-term health-related quality of life (HRQL). Race and parental socioeconomic status (SES) are associated with child HRQL, but these associations have not been studied in infants born extremely preterm (EP), a population at increased risk for physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments. Achieving health equity for infants born EP across their life course requires identifying the impact of racism and SES on HRQL.
